Alpha is for special edition orders only. Since I am guessing you're new the whole game development experience then I'll just say no, alpha is not a one day thing. Alpha will probably last a month or two depending on the results they get out of it. With the huge amount of players it might even be slightly longer. Then it will be in a beta phase open to all preorders.

I was just making sure I understood what they were saying on the order page since I ordered 2 more copies for friends (standard edition). Was hoping to have them participate in the Alpha on the 26th. Just guess they will have to wait for the beta. =(
I'd have them upgrade the copies I bought them, but doubt I'll be able to get them to do it by then.
I took off work so that I can play it the moment it comes out, and I plan on playing the hell out of it until the game dies. See you fellas there 8) I'm also going to be livestreaming me play it for those of you who don't have the alpha access and want to see what its like.

Alpha won't be a good time to introduce new people to the concept anyway, especially if they have any doubts.
Ive only known about unknown worlds and ns for about 2 days. Im shocked that ive never see this game before. It looks really ###### cool. I will get SE and test this game. I hope this game has good chance to be a esports game. Also i hope they can market this game more. Get a tv add or do a gametrailers interview or something. Im a gamer that follows all kinda games and i didnt know about ns at all. Im sure there are a tone of people that dont know aswell.

Launch late at night + inevitable last minute delay + download time + possible backed up steam servers = anyone other than west coast and people with no jobs can play for a given length of time that night. GOOD THING I'M UNEMPLOYED. Though i wish i wasn't.
