I don't know if you've tried the railgun, but it's unusual in that it uses reload speed as its attack rate (it has magazine size 1). This means you can fire it very rapidly if you can pull off fast reloads, but it's quite difficult to pay attention to the reload meter in the bottom corner while also maintaining aim on a target.
(On the other hand, I suspect the variance in the fast reload window may be small enough that a fixed mental timing is possible - perhaps I should try this instead.)
Incidentally, this also means the weapon is much more powerful in the hands of a character with a high reload speed bonus - Crash fires the railgun 64% faster than the default rate.
Edit: Just noticed that the reload meter is duplicated on the crosshair. Probably too small to be useful though.

i've yet to see any unlocks that are especially awesome. i like the electro-armor because it can save you from infestation. but other than that the only unlock i've found useful is the tesla gun and the medic gun. is there anything else worth using?

I had fun doing co-op with people, finding PDAs, and reading them outloud to my team while they yelled at me to shut up. They didn't even protect me while I was reading them!
Really fun game considering the price. :-)
Also, picking up the chainsaw is a noticeable event in the "friendly fire" chart at the end of the game.

And the bad news- after the update, the game gracefully crashes whenever I try to run it...
If playing on different computers think twice before uploading your 'local settings' to Steam Cloud. They include your experience/unlocks as well as your controls. >_<
Went down from level 25 to level 16 because I chose that. Really should be worded better. :/
It wouldn't have happened if they had that in from the start. Basically it went like this: you got level 25 you changed computer and got to level 16 they added xp to cloud stuff you uploaded your level 16 stats

The thing is this should have been tied to SteamIDs like TF2 is. I've never lost unlocks or achievements by switching PCs to play TF2. Experience is experience. By all means give the user an option to reset experience and unlocks, but don't assume they want to split their experience between multiple machines and have to upload it each time, remembering which machine they got furthest on last.
Furthermore, don't call 'experience and unlocks and basically the record of all the progression you've made in the game' settings.
--- The game still rocks, it was just a tad annoying. Got 1 second off the first level speed run today. Speed run achievements are awesome!

Yeah, I doubt it'd ever serve a purpose but it's neat seeing the detail in the models up close.

^Useful console commands.
Things like turn off auto-reload.
Or places a fast reload bar under your actual marine so you don't need to look in the corner to time your reload.
Best free game Ive downloaded in quite some time, since ns1
