I think it was mostly the angle when carrying normally and firing that must have bothered me cause yeah the concepts and renders look great.

Still not thrilled about the flat screen on the back, takes up way too much space and I don't like the way it's in a little frame. (Edit: Well maybe not too much space, but I hate the frame).

    Ya i agree.

On the first point, maybe the devs can provide a way for people to customize the weapon offset and orientation? It can literally be a bunch of textboxes representing the different number parameters with some way to preview the results.

On the second point, ya i didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. Think a better design could of been either a recessed screen, or one that is flush with the frame.

While on the topic of the handgun, why is it it a single stack magazine + 9mm. Are we assuming 9x19mm btw or something that actually has recoil? The magazine looks to much like a 1911 magazine. Gah WW2 reference!!!! Actually it looks like a Sig Sauer magazine i once saw, BUT the concept art looks like a magazine loaded with .45 ACP so...

Stormtrooper -> Sturmtruppen, shock trooper, luger-style weapons, stormtrooper helmets -> Stahlhelms

ah screw it, most people made that connection when they were fifteen; if you haven't by now you'll need that extra push:

Well sure it's obvious where Storm Troopers come from, I just never noticed their blasters were made from the Sten. The first time I saw Star Wars though was when I was 6, same with Alien, so I've never really given the film's influences much thought, I just thought they were cool at the time. Shame it all went sour *Rant about Alien Resurrection, the AVP films and Episode 1, 2 and 3*

Actually, I believe the stormtrooper rifle is based off the FG42:

    And Han Solo's blaster is a Mauser C96, not a Luger. :)

And speaking of Aliens, the pulse rifle was built around an M1 Thompson, though it's hard to tell unless you know what you're looking for:

I don't agree with the Pulse Rifle's internal Thompson machine gun being a reference to WW2 in this case.

The pulse rifle contains the fore-arm of a SPAS-12, and the shotgun portion is a Remington 870, and in the movie it's said that the gun fires 10mm bullets. What does this have to do with WW2? Not a damn thing.

More likely, the Thompson was the cheapest way to achieve the desired results that the movie demanded. I.e. a submachine gun with some kick.

Almost right, they tested a variety of guns that gave the best flash with blanks and were the most reliable to fire. So they went with the Thompson for the Pulse Rifle, a H&K VP70 for the pistol because it looked 'Quite futuristic' and a MG34 mounted on a camera steady and customised with Kawasaki motorcycle parts for the Smart gun.

I forgot about the smart gun!!! :P

According to Wikipedia it was MG-42 though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_(film). It says the movie was filmed in England so i wonder if this somehow makes finding Thompson machine guns and MG-42's more likely.

Not to get off topic but there's a company that makes a 50 round 9mm pulse rifle with a underside shotty which is interesting lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HufACX1GepM

It was the MG 42 then, I thought I heard the guy say 32, and I posted 34 so I don't know what happened there hahah. I should have realised it was the 42 with the drum magazine, was my favourite weapon in RO.

I have no idea what all the complaining is about, I think the pistol looks bad ass I love the bulky, bigger layout of it. It gives it a look of power, like they said a hand canon, not a squirt gun, I hope they don't listen to the complainers and keep this bad ass gun the way it is now.

Not trying to get off-topic, but check out my newly updated analysis on NS2: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...t&p=1757934

That's not an analysis on NS2. That's a recollection of different weapons that you loosely tie to the NS2 pistol.
