    John's Beard is somewhat of a icon in the Wolfire Community. You can see the true devotion of his followers <a href="http://forums.wolfire.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5143&start=0" target="_blank">here</a>. A large group of Wolfire forum users have also "bearded" their avatars and such. Anyways, the idea to dye his beard pink started <a href="http://forums.wolfire.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5723" target="_blank">here</a> and soon John used the fervent passion of those who wanted his beard to be pink, and turned it into a tool for this pack I guess. Anyhow, pink beard ftw. Then again, how would he look when confronted with other indie developers? Or even real companies? He is the Wolfire PR guy after all... xP

    Ok. I had watched the video but I somehow missed the reason 5 - 1000 sales = pink beard thing. (And I figured it'd be at the first or end when I went back to review.) So I couldn't figure out why people kept saying to watch the video. ;)

    Well, somebody asked him to described the game through expresionist dance whilst wearing a kilt and if you check wolfire's youtube channel he did excatly that so...You get the point.

    Anyway, Im glad to see that both games are selling well, even though I somehow believe that 1000 units is not enough considering the quality of both titles.

    well, it's a preorder of 2 games that only have an editor out with no ETA of a alpha, so it's only normal alot of people are waiting. And then there is that "linux problem", where the NS2 devs apparently refuse to make any statement lately about any plans for a linux version, so since alot of lugaru fans are linux users, they are hesitant to preorder that pack if there is no assured (or at least possible) linux version for NS2.

    That beeing said, all we know is that its "more than 1000". could be 10'000 ;) (ok, i'm joking here ;) )

    I disagree, the games are preselling extremely well so far, considering what they've released in actual content. Yes, the engines look very nice, but a lot of people will want to see gameplay before they commit. Most of the sales so far are from the die-hard fans.

    Of course, once this hits the mainstream the preorder sales will seem small by comparison (if the final product is as good as we all hope it will be)



    As for the "more than 1000", it's probably not all that much more, or we would have been hearing about pink beards earlier in the sale. Based on the announcement time for the pink beard (5 days after the sale started I think, not going to look it up right now) they're averaging around 200 bundles a day, so over 7 days they would jointly sell roughly 1400 copies. Not bad at all for one week.

    I pre-ordered my special edition of NS2, I want a photo of pink beard of John from Wolfire! And maybe signed too... it should be mailed to us! so we can put it on our walls, saying to our friends. "Hey! Look at what I made John from Wolfire do!" xD
