That was really cool, in a way. Would like to see a similar effect used in a movie, with the gunner being superhuman of course. <a href="http://www.todaysbigthing.com/2010/08/04" target="_blank">bonus video</a>

When Anderson fought Chael last night Chael did some amazing riding of a very squirmy silva, but unless you know that that what your looking at is difficult and incredible I could see how one would be noplussed for sure.
I guess lf needs to see a fight that ends something like this <center><object width="450" height="356"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fLUKJdkvu5w"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fLUKJdkvu5w" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" height="356"></embed></object></center>
Yeah I'm not trolling. It wasn't really apparent from the video why he lost and the commenter did nothing to explain it. I merely pointed that out. That's not trolling, that's just calling it as it is.
I don't really know anything about kickboxing. Only kind of martial arts I know anything about rulewise is regular boxing, and that doesn't have tapouts. I'd actually forgotten those exist, and I'm still not quite sure how they work. Nor do I know anything about submission holds. To my layman's eyes the situation looks pretty trivial. I mean what can the other guy do? Literally pull Silva's leg? What's that going to accomplish? Can he dislocate his leg that way? I assume he has other options or Silva wouldn't surrender, but I can't see any.

MMA. The same sport the Ultimate Fighting Championship promotes. In kick boxing the rules are very similar to boxing except you are allowed to kick to anywhere but the groin as well as punch. Maui Thai, which is Thailandish kickboxing has basically the same rules as Kickboxing, but you are also awarded points for throwing another fighter to the ground from a standing grapple position, and unlike kickboxing, standing grapple positions are not broken up by the referee.
Mixed Martial arts combines many different martial arts. Fights are started standing, like boxing, but fighters may wrestle and grapple and take the fight to the ground. You can win by impressing the judges more than your opponent did at the end of the fight (usually three 5 minute rounds), by knocking your opponent out or doing damage to your opponent such that they no longer fight back intelligently (as per the judgement of the referee), or by causing your opponent to submit (quit the fight) by tapping out or verbally submitting. Submissions are generally joint manipulation, like pulling the arm back at the wrong angle. If one fighter is injured during the fight the other fighter will also be declared the winner, unless the injury was the result of some technique that was against the rules. There are alot of different exclusions of things that fighters in MMA can't do, such as eye gouging, trying to bend back fingers, kicking or punching to the groin, stomping on or kicking the head of a downed opponent (a guy on the ground).
Anderson Silva is considered probably the best fighter alive right now in any weight class in MMA... this is somewhat signifigant because MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world right now, and quickly reaching the status of boxing.

Look closely after the flying leg scissor (the thing the used to take him down to the mat [Which is jokes in and amongst itself]) notice how his hands instantly go to silvas right ankle, look where he places his hands and the pressure he applies, he is rotating that right ankle more to the right. If your looking down your own body towards your right ankle, and you move it clockwise (do they even have clockwise in Europe?) until it cannot move any further. The next step involves having a buff asian guy wrench on your maxed out ankle and finding out how long you can resist giving up

How can can miss the tapout (submission via tapping) that is covered in several angles is beyond me, your threshold for scrutiny is usually higher
as far as the 2nd video I posted, just go to the last twenty seconds
