How many preorders so far?

Just wondering how many preorders have been made so far, I hope its a lot. Considering the boards have been almost dead for awhile-- population base wise. (yes you are going to argue that)
I got the special, been looking forward to number 2 since day 1 but a little frightened about the install base right now is.

No idea, but I just pre-ordered the special edition (I know I don't gain much; but let them have it) and I was number ~3000 via paypal invoice.

pretty sure that was the item number you saw and not related to number of purchases... doesn't matter does it?

Have faith. There are a lot of sleeper agents like myself <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />. I will be pre ordering soon and I know many others who will also. I hope to attract a lot of new people to this game, and hopefully it becomes a success like we all want it to.

The number of sales won't be as high in the first week as games that a have multi-million dollar marketing budgets, because NS2 has NO marketing budget. Don't get worried about the number of sales, and if you are.. go out and tell friends about the game, get it for people's birthdays.. it's a damn cheap game anyway, I'm sure if you showed them the trailer, or even waited till alpha, show them the game, I guarantee you could sell NS2 to pretty much any gamer (I know I could).

Further on this, just link people on your steam/msn to the trailer, I have linked ~10 people, all who didn't know it was out yet, or knew that NS2 was even coming... thats 10 more potential sales, with the price of NS2 being what it is.. the percentage of people who take a look and then purchase will be larger than most games I'd say.

Once it hits steam, I'd say the sales will explode.. because it will be in people's faces, and the price tag is very attractive compared to other games coming out around the same time, which are all around $50-60 USD.

Just tell your friends, make some posts on other forums.. link in your fb status.. if you are concerned about sales, then go and make some happen; it will help bring a larger player base, and further updates and development on the game through the revenue gained.

Think of it this way. Earlier today, there were 14k views on the main "Comments here" post for the news update. That's only people who are gutsy enough to wade into a new community (new to them), or old timers here.

Not -everyone- preordered, but that hopefully gives you a possible number. Gotta also take into account those who don't have a forum account that preordered, which would be x. So, really, at the very least, perhaps... 2,000+x. That might be cutting it small, but I dunno. I know 15 people that preordered.

I think you could maybe take the number of active forumers as the number of ppl who pre-order. Cos I dont think anyone else would get it yet, if they have not played the original.

If I remember correctly, NS1 had between two and three million unique users over its lifetime (the number should be somewhere around here). There's a significant market penetration here; the question is how many of those people are a) willing to come back (life will have happened to a lot of them) and b) buy the product on faith. It's very difficult to gauge both. I know Charlie and the gang are happy with the numbers, and that's really all there is to it.

£25? I'm thinking more about how much I owe them in BACKPAYMENT for NS1. I must have clocked up half a year gaming time on that thing. By my maths, I paid around about half a penny an hour <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />. Good times <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />. Alpha here I come!

I have hardly ever posted here, but I pre-ordered the special edition as soon as it was available. I hardly ever play videogames anymore, but for NS I have and will continue to pay for any content released. Greatest game ever

Im in the same boat as areaman. I hardly get time to game anymore but NS2 is worth paying for even if i never get the chance to play it. Good luck with the sales team and i look forward to the finished product.
