Unusual number of players getting Steam Ticket errors

<div class="IPBDescription">Server patch to fix this?</div>Seems that an unusual number of players are getting "Steamed" - ie. kicked for invalid tickets, on our servers. I've not had the problem myself, but enough folks are complaining that I thought I'd ask around here.
I work with several other mods, and so far as I know, none seem to be suffering from this bug anymore than usual. It has yet to hit me personally.
There's also a rumor that there is some sort of server-side fix for this lying about. Can anyone corroborate that and point us towards said?

honestly, just tell any one that gets these problems to search on the steam support website with the EXACT error message.
Someone said there was a patch for it, but if there was, I would *hope* someone here would know by now - lest there's some other. more active. NS forums out there.

hai2u thothie!
/me hides under keyboard.
(Yes, the Mullet sighting has reduced me to a babble of forum images and ancient BBS chat clichés.)
How do you know Mullet?
I like how he still has a christmas avatar.
Hey Thansal
However, I gotta say, I know of no patch bout this. However, thinking about it, the only recent server 'patch' I knew about was when the Steam update borked all things HL, so that MIGHT be what people were talking about.
Honestly, I would say checking out Steampowered
Same place I know you and all my eLoves from, 72.35.235.130:27021 - aka. The bloody Jigglyroom.
Mayhaps you're too fresh to recall, but Mullet was the first member of the Jigglyroom to receive the eTard forum flag, and wear said badge with pride - well before OA came along and made it trendy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

Nuttin new at Steampowered - but again, I deal with a lot of HL1 mods, and I see no similar trend in the others.
It maybe just coincidence, and just happen to be the JRNS server population that got smacked by it most. There've been a lot of client patches lately, and those seem to generate the error, more than anything else. *shrug*
I get steamed more often now too, but nothing a /retry hasn't fixed. I'm not a pro-lifeform or anything so the worst I lose is a gorge. When it happens to higher lifeforms, it sucks pretty badly.

Right, sorry about that.
What I was referring to was about a month or so back now when a steam updated borked all things HL1. It was patched in about a week, but before that there were a number of fan patches that quasi fixed the problems. So I was thinking that might have been what people were saying "there is a server patch". (aka, no relation to the current problem at all <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)
Our servers have had this problem for a while now it seems. We had heard rumors too and at one point we were excited when we read this thread telling us to change the server variable sv_timeout to 22

Unfortunately, it had no noticeable improvement on our servers.

SVC Bad is a separate issue from Steam Ticket errors - certain plugins and net settings can cause that ('specially plugins that affect all players at once). A host of other buggers related to that as well, the next most common being crappily designed custom maps or incorrectly edited maps (via ripent/hlcsg -onlyents). Interesting info though - it maybe that setting fixes some plugin issue on a TFC server.
IIRC, SVC Bad was commonly generated by a recent version of NS due to the sounds generated by all the players joining a team at the same time, but the issue was resolved. Since then it's been pretty rare, but it does happen every now and again. I know one of our plugins can cause it, if it is abused - we've a ready room randomizer that will generate it if you try to force all the players into game too soon after a game reset. So if ye have something along those lines, it maybe related.
Just a bump to point out our server population believes it <a href="http://tfc.panduck.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=653" target="_blank">must be more than coincidence</a>.
*sigh* Damned if I know what to do though. I suppose I should head to the Guns server forums and ask if they've done anything special. This maybe yet another something that only affects the Linux build of NS, in which case, we maybe boned, as I dunno if there are any other linux based NS servers remaining.

The <BAD> servers are running on linux. To be honest we have not had many complaints about this recently so I'm not sure how that helps, but, yea.
