I dunno if it's the right thing to do, if it's the appropriate thing to do, or if it'll break other stuff, but if you edit
<wherever hlds is on your server>\steam_appid.txt
and change it from 60 to 70, it works again. I only run a NS server, so I don't really care if it breaks other mods.
I don't even know if it'll fix the problem for other people. Just posting what worked for me.

Good find LordSkitch. For a noob quick fix I just put a file in the ns folder, Name it " steam_appid.txt" and type "70" inside for the text(without the quotes).

figure Steam/Valve would have pre-released any engine changes to registerd MOD developers.... oh wait.. nevermind.... that is the punchline.
Flayra sue them so you'll have enough money for NS3!!

Greetings from Russia.
For some reason there appeared to be another update this morn (est), I applied it, but it had no effect.
It DID have an affect, unfortunately it doesn't fix classic.
The effect that I've noticed is that your name is no longer forced to be your steam friends name. Last night if you changed your name, it would change back shortly after. This is no longer the case.
Because you dont want to use the source engine, now valve gonna strike back.
tnx dude
