I haven't been this overpowered by a movie in a long time.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/no_country_for_old_men/

This is quite simply the best thriller I've ever seen: forget silence of the lambs. Not a single cliche in the entire film. Meticulously crafted, thematically unified, and absolutely chilling.

There was only one negative review on that rotten tomatoes page.

    That never happens.

What the hell is this movie that is apparently so awesome, that I've never even heard about before?

    A new release or something?

Only one negative review on the first page, you mean. It has more negatives later. Plenty of movies can do that, like Children of Men or Ratatouille. Of course, those are two of the best movies I've ever seen, so No Country for Old Men might be amazing also.

Ratatouille?!? I have lost all respect for you as a film critic. Seriously. What's next, Bee Movie?

Any movie with "old men" in the title can't be bad.

I don't understand how you could have seen Ratataouille and compared it at all to Bee Movie. They are both animated and have jokes. That is where the similiarities end. That's like saying every live action humor film is equally good.

You're correct, Ratataouille is hardly in the same league as Bee Movie.

putting 'Children of Men' in your 'best movies ever seen' category was what struck me..

I'm living in something of a media vacuum (no TV, no newspaper, magazines, or printed media of any sort, no radio) and I haven't even heard of this yet till this thread.

So, thanks to moultano. I remember your thread about The Fountain, which I netflix'd on your recommendation.

Now, the commander can, and infact only can, build his own structures. Marines can now upgrade their own weapons. The result is that in effect, the Commander and the Marines are now playing two seperate games. Synergy has been replaced with disunity. If Commanders don't need their Marines as much, they won't communicate with them as much, and vice versa.

The fountain is a chick flick man, I tried watching it but was utterly bored and easily confused as to what was going on simply because Hugh Jackman plays three different characters throughout the movie. That compounded with flashbacks and retelling of the same story made it nearly impossible to follow unless you feel like watching it twice.

I would've watched Rat-tat-toulie if my mother wasn't mortally afraid of mice. CG or not. She is like that chef dude who spends the whole movie trying to kill the rat. I assume that's what he does anyway.

Is 'No country for old men' really that good? I mean 'Children of Men' was a fairly decent movie, I lean more towards '28 days later' as my favorite movie. I don't think it's playing in Waycross though, they tend to shut-out most of my movies. Like 'Shoot-em up' I had to drive an hour there, wait an hour cause I was ten minutes late and drive back at midnight. It was still worth it. Sadly, I can't do that right now cause I'm jobless.

You're so prejudiced that you can't appreciate a movie just because it's animated? Ratatouille is a masterpiece!

Finally got to see this. Quite excellent. I'm not sure I'd call it a proper thriller though. There's a lot more going on here than in your average thriller, even if it was quite thrilling. It *is* a kind of exploration of thriller character archetypes, though. I liked that even the exacting psychopath was pitiable in the end.

even though it didn't have nearly as much comedy as usual coen bros. fare, I think I would have to say this was my favorite of theirs so far...
