But Steam and DOSBox aren't integrated so they're not required to release Steam or the iD games under GPL.

They have modified the code (apparently they're running version 0.70 but the MD5 hash doesn't match) but haven't released the source code on Steam. They, apparently, haven't even included the setup programs for most of the games so you can't change any config settings.

They wouldn't have to release Steam source, as the modified code interacts with a pre-compiled binary (steam.)

They would, however, need to release the code that interfaces with steam, which could be potentially secretive and properietary interface methods, and perhaps a security breach.

That said, it is much more likely that they'd just remove the recompiled binary before that happened.

Sooooo, looks like they're just keeping quiet about this. No apology, no acknowledgement. Nothing. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Hence the reason I prefer Soul Calibur Games to the likes of streetfighter; the moves in Soul Calibur are simple and easy and most of the game is in the high/med/low/parry/fake game. Street Fighter is more about comboing in massive moves which aren't as simple to pull off. Different skills, different preferences :3

Normally I agree with you on most gaming things Gem, but sorry, this is just utterly wrong. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> If anything, Street Fighter is faster, but it's way more tactical and way LESS twitch based than any of the Namco games, which can often reward a little mash on occasion. (Raphael/Xianghua spring to mind)

The heavier damage moves often are more complicated to pull off, but it's the simple ones that form the mainstay of any SF play.
