Tips for boosting Voice Inbound Volume

Hello. First post from an old player, though admittedly casual.

Anyone have any tips for this? It seems like getting the player voices to the point that they are easily understandable also makes the other sound effects simply overwhelming. I tried turning down the sound effects volume and leaving my inbound voice volume maxed, but it appears that they are linked. I've also dug through some console commands to no avail. Does anyone know some tricks to help me out? Thanks!

tried voice_scale in console?

I did, but I didn't know what value to use. I believe the default was 1... I used 5, and there was no effect.

It will reduce the level of other game sounds in favour of voice.
