Valve doesnt care about HL1 VAC, and you can cheat while being demod

There is a grumbling afoot bout the rise of new hacks, since its so simple to defeat VAC, valve relies on external snitches and VAC dont do polymorphic or adaptabiliy, at all. A non polymorphic hack can get re-changed every month, and VAC is DOA.

You cant stop the hackers because anyone whose tried a hack knows how to minimize its usage, and knows when he is sticking out, and when he is being spec'd.

Ive seen hackers purposely start losing from their 32-1 k/d ratio late in the game, as people start finally trying to note thier name.

There will never be removal of hackers and hackers IMO are hte only thing threatens the fun and integrity of NS. There is no technical way to stop it that is not bandwidth feasible, there is no way to demo an aware and alert hacker, there is no way to analyze hackage on an alert and aware hacker. In short, we're screwed and there's nothing we can do about it. The best thing IMO is to create a highly invasive, privacyless memory snapshotter that runs along side your NS client, salts, hashes and stamps and compresses the shot, and have a few paid experts over at Valve to run analysis. a large snapshot at random intervals even on 2gb systems or more is feasible with compression for bandwidth purposes, and cpu intensity shouldnt be terrible. if they hook a memory snapshotter, it should be able to fail its checksums and send off the warning bell

And to the people who claim "oh there's lots of good players" that doesnt do anything against the fact that theres a TON of hackers. so defending the good players only defends those players names and honor; it DOES NOTHING to address the fact that hackers are screwing up the game.

i was confronted with a disturbingly large number of hackers on various servers last winter when i still played. they obviously werent experts at it though; on marines i got more frags than they did (stuff like he's at 30/3 im at 35/4) and on aliens it was pretty good practice for fading <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
