Martial Arts!
<div class="IPBDescription">In 'em, love 'em? </div>So, basically, my friends and I are putting together an action film this summer (Since one of said friends is a film major) and I'm being used in some stunts and stuff. I'm into TaeKwonDo (Jidokwan) and take a lot of things from Capoeira.
So, I was just thinking, how many people in the NS community are into a martial arts form?

I myself am training in Muay Thai. Hopefully I can start an amateur career towards the end of this year.
I made a thread like this a while ago, we have some wrestlers and stuff in here too IIRC.

Yeesh, you didn't have to get sticks beaten over your shins and forearms did you?
Here are some great examples of Muay Thai training. Impressive too: the power of many MT strikes are considered to be unrivalled, especially the Thai roundhouse. Yodsaenklai Fairtex is the professional fighter shown in the vids.

All of that "beating with sticks" stuff was never a focal point of MT training, and by now all that crap is long gone. All training is focused on conditioning, strength, or technique.

Do you use those knives?
What're they called... Kerambits? Yeah, that's it.
I've yet to see a Djuru done before.

I also studied Jeet Kun Do for a few years (I keep on movie/breaking stuff and have to lay off the MA for a long time). JKD was alot of fun as we studied Muay Thai, Kali (AKA Eskrima, Arnis de Mano, FMA), Shoot wrestling, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Wing Chun, and probably a few other things.
Switching over to TKD after that was interesting. I had a lot of the basics (I knew how to throw proper punches and kicks), and however tweaking them over to standard TKD techniques was interesting.
My roundhouse Kick had to become a snapping kick (from the Muay Thai baseball bat approach I was used to), and before I busted my ankle I could easily kick head height (something rarely done in JKD).
On the other hand my knowledge from different sorts of Trapping/grappling fed directly into Hap Ki Do in many cases.
Did a year of Ji-jutsu(dont care about spelling) too.
