"We ran all of MaddoxX's proof by a software security expert who requested anonymity. "This looks real to me. He found a way into [Valve's] Cyber Café software," the security expert confirms, "but what I've seen -- the files pulled down -- don't indicate whether or not he breached Valve itself.""
"Doug Lombardi, director of marketing at Valve, says, "There has been no security breach of Steam." However, he does confirm our expert's findings by adding, "The alleged hacker gained access to a third-party site that Valve uses to manage the commercial partners in its Cyber Café program. This Cyber Café billing system is not connected to Steam. We are working with law enforcement agencies on this matter, and encourage anyone with more information to e-mail us at Catch_A_Thief@valvesoftware.com.""
I think you people are getting a little too worried.

Tis a fake IMO. I can't imagine any company holding CC records third party. Generally speaking, even if you got quite intimate access into a companies private servers CC records should still be inaccessible due to internal security.

It doesn't change the fact that he is an immature ######. For all we know that's a lie too. Ever seen Law & Order? Crooks make up stories about other people's involvement so they can have a bargining chip and buy time while the police investigate the claim. He's obviously not claiming innocence, in fact is he not taunting corporate blackmail?
My honest thought on this?
He's a pathological lier. Like that messed up woman who pretended to be giving her child up for adoption and then completely disappeared after the money came. He obviously wants attention, especially if he's chatting it up in IRC.

I wish they had said something before, even a simple "we know something is going down, we are investigating it, more info will be forthcoming."
