<div class="IPBDescription">The times that have been...</div>It's kind of funny when it hits you, but I just got to this site from Digg (well, actually a link to a link, but whatever) and you somehow remember your password. And then it hits you when you visit your profile that you have registered on this site nearly four years ago. You were the little noob running around as a skulk, whoring the gorge while wondering why everyone was yelling at you and the simultanious wonder as to why your resource tower constantly kept blowing up on ns_nancy.

What's even more amazing was the distant thought that NS was probably the best damn game ever made, only to be replaced by others as soon as NS 1.04 became just as distant (sorry devs, but the original was probably the best).

You remember all the servers you've helped host, all the friends you have made, and really how easily you've left the game. But most of all, you remember that you have annother forum you can ###### <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

P.S. I would have came by earlier, as I've remembered NS thanks to Voogru and then annother member from NS contacted who me (sorry, I did kind of forget you), but the forum was down.

    I know, it's weird.

    This year I'll have been playing NS For 5 years. That's such a long time in a rapidly changing field like gaming is.

    Fireworks, PhaseGate selector, Medpack armory... I think some others, too.

    That server still runs: <a href="http://www.vh2.nl" target="_blank">www.vh2.nl</a>
    It's not run by Voogru anymore, but most of the old folks still play there, and it's always filled.

    Those 2 hive lock downs sucked big time especially when the marines wanted to turret farm every RT before taking the last hive.

    I still chat to friends I made through NS, infact when I go to i31 later in the year I'm gonna get to meet a guy I've know for nearly 5 years through NS but have never actually met <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />.     Ah, yes, 1.04, when the game could be compiled down to a simple logic query.

    If MarineEquipment{jetpack} and MarineEquipment{hmg} goto GameResult{MarineWin}; else goto GameResult{AlienWin}

    Rose Tints are bad folks. 1.04 was, in any format beyond the novelty of how original NS was, and how new the game was to us, terrible by comparison. Hell, to look at even recent history, I've got used to having +movement to the point that Skulking without it drives me nuts. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    Good Lord, I just remembered we joined in 2002. I was at the other end of my twenties! :'(

    It's funny how this post is here at exactly the moment I decided to stop by as well. I definitely have fond memories of NS and the community. I always find myself returning to play a game of NS or checking the forum every once in a while. But to all those who have gone and all who remain, thanks for the good times.

    I'd love the new version if games allowed more time for strategies to develop. And people didn't ignore gorges as much. Nobody says thank you anymore, most of the people are whining and being self-centered.

    But I do like the changes added to the new versions. A lot of flaws have been fixed. I just wish it didn't come with short games. I just wish NS was scarier and allowed for strategic game play. (strategy is NOT the same thing as tactics btw)
