Loading Game Problem

<div class="IPBDescription">Incapable of playing game</div>Ok, I recently reinstalled my copy of windows xp and installed and updated everything on my computer. This includes gfx and sound plus half life and couter strike and CZ. I installed ns about 4 days ago and have only had the chance to play it now. So i get geard up for playing it and it find a nice low ping server. After all the precaching and downloading of custom .wav files it finally looks like it had stalled. so alternativly to ctrl + alt +delte, i pressed Escape. This popped up the gamemenu as it normally would in game. Hmm, so i can play the game, but it will only show the previous screen as if it was a screen shot. Say if i was to move my mouse around, then press escape, i can see the players, ready rooms etc, but when i resume back into the game, it still shows a 'paused' still of what i was looking at at the exact moment i pressed escape to resume.

I cant really show any screen shots of this, as it would look like a normal game, but with the gamemenu switched on. and that there is no difference between this and the toggled (off) game switch.

I hope this is acommon issue, however i have searched the forums to no avail. Thanks, i wanna start playing Ns as soon as poss!!!

Sounds like a very common problem with the HLClassic engine, which is normally only seen when you alt-tab out of a game that is either generating a level, or in the process of connecting to a server.

I can only assume that this is because it causes a problem with loading, which then doesn't initialize the graphics update properly...

Try the same server again, it might have just been a one of hiccups, or try a different server, to see if you get the same issues...

Yo, first things first I'm sorry if i missed the answer to this somewhere else in the form but my problem seems most similiar to the person who started this thread. The problem is this when i join a server it goes through the usual routine downloading lvl and music and what not but when i get in the game I'm greeted with a completly black screen. Now heres where it gets wierd if I press Escape it brings up the server list and now behind that i can see the lvl, the waiting room i guess but if i click resume its a black screen again. I tried a number of different servers but same problem regardless of ping (even tried older versions Aka 3.1.0). Additionally if I say hit F1 to join marines that goes all fine I join Marines but still a black screen only diff is now i have a targeting recticle if I shoot i here the sound and all and again if I press escape i can see where im looking my gun and arm and all that. Also if I move with WSAD keys or look with the mouse then press escape I'll see a different part of the lvl. hmm i think thats all of what I can see as a problem and again I'm sorry if I missed this somewhere else but any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PS just in case its hardware problem I have the following with all drivers up to date.
-Windows Home xp
-AMD XP64 3400+
-Ati 9550
-Asus MB Via chipset
-1gb DDR 400
-19 lcd Monitor AG Neovo
-ATI Diamond 7.1 sound card
