Re: Skins.
So recently there have been some discusions about skins.
So i decided to look the skins up.
I searched on google and found a shadow fade i've never seen before.
I countinued to looking i Went to the wiki and saw the shadow skulk shadow gorge and the shadow lerk.
But i didn't see anything about the shadow fade or the reaper skins. So i keept looking.
Then i checked out the marine skins and there was no kodiak skin wich i new existed. Nither did it show rifle skins. So yeah there my reasearch ended.
Now my question to you guys is what exactly do i get in the difrent packs?
Im especially intrested in the reaper khara skins and the elite assult. Are those still avible? And do i get those in the deluxe edition?
-Saffron_Baker
I'll start with the Kodiak pack.
store.steampowered.com/app/296360/
Kodiak Camouflage Marine Armor (Male & Female) & Rifle

Kodiak Camouflage Exosuit

Kodiak Camouflage Skulk

Kodiak Marine Shoulder Pad

Now the Reaper pack.
store.steampowered.com/app/310100/

Celebrate the second anniversary of Natural Selection 2's Halloween 2012 release with the Reaper Pack, created by NS community member Rantology. The Reaper Pack transforms NS2's alien lifeforms into a new, terrifying form. Receive a new Reaper evolution of the Skulk, Gorge, Lerk, Fade and Onos and select your chosen variant in the in-game customization menu.
In addition you get the Reaper Marine shoulder pad.

Lastly is the Reinforcement pack.
store.steampowered.com/app/333230/
The Assault Marine armor set adds a camouflage pattern and modified plating. Select male or female versions in the customization menu.

Skulks are already vicious, but they aren't all alike: The Shadow Skulk is a more aggressive, darker, and more terrifying evolution of this wall-running, face-chomping life-form.

The Assault Shoulder pad can be applied to any marine armor type.

In addition to "Elite Assault" and the "Shadow" skins you can no longer get them with the only exception being Shadow Skulk as they required a "Shadow Badge" donation which was featured in the "Reinforcement Program" which was closed down some months ago.
Shadow fade and onos are subject to being completed by rantology, when they become finished? Who knows, shes a busy woman.
Re: [Linux] Key repeat problem
A friend of mine had keyboard controls issues with NS2 in Ubuntu. It was fixed by switching to X Input Method from ibus. Try to create a file ~/.xsessionrc and put a single line to it:
Relogin and check in leafpad, for example: right-click ⇒ Input Methods ⇒ if you have "System (X Input Method)" set as default, you're good to go. Ibus isn't really needed if you don't use Eastern scripts like Chinese/Japanese. But it can bring all sorts of input issues if not disabled.
export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim

@IronHorse, It's broken on Linux?
GhoulofGSG9 wrote: »Well i am as puzzled as you. But it seems like the "hotfix" planned for tuesday was just released.
However it does not include updated linux binaries.
276.1 Changelog:
- Stopped the server from processing the same client move twice. (caused one of the "red plug" Issues)
Known Issue:
- debug.setupvalue currently has a critical issue causing clients to crash (e.g. NS2+ and the Comp Mod triggers this)
- spectator are included into the match's report
- some server (wooza and probably the siege mod) run into issues when interpolating due to reassigned entity ids due to coming close to the entity count limit.
- the tutorial is not playable under linux as the instruction windows doesn't get displayed.
We are on it.

No, the tutorial is about 10 minutes. Then you will be green for 4 hours and able to play like you always have been.

Hmm... you're not using any kind of resizing programs are you? Or even the nvidia DSM modes? Just a shot in the dark. Also, stupid question: but it IS set to fullscreen, right? not windowed with too big of a resolution?
I don't know what nvidia DSM is. I dont' know what resizing progams would be. I'm as stock as it gets. It worked before i deployed. I am back and steam updated and now I can't see the screen. I've always played in windowed mode for me at 1920x1080, as you can see from this picture (1st link above)
Is there a file I can edit from windows explorer to change settings?
Oops, I meant DSR, stands for dynamic super resolution. Basically just tricks the game into thinking you have a higher resolution monitor than you really do, and nvidia then scales the image back down to make it fit your screen. Wasn't sure if that could cause this problem or not.
You can find system_options.xml in AppData/Roaming/Natural Selection 2/
Re: "Dirty"-looking textures?
You can disable the ambient occlusion option. It will also increase your fps.
Re: Slight Change to Scenery on New Game
The escape pod can spawn in different spots.
Re: Does the Blood Kelp Biome Actially Exist?
@Myrm Experimental Mode isn't a different mode in the game like Survival or Hardcore.
To activate Experimental mode you have to actually enable it through the Game's Properties through the Steam Library

Then click the "Betas" tab, and pick "Experimental" from the dropdown menu.

Then launch the game.
You should get a notice that your save is out of date, but unless you built deep underground, you should be able to generate the new terrain and proceed anyways.
