Re: Update for Xbox one on 07/08/16 problems
I finally got the patch myself on my home Xbox, including the hotfix. While I'm not seeing the freezing issue on the main menu, I am seeing some of the other issues reported.
My advice right now if you're freezing on the main menu, is to Uninstall Subnautica from your Xbox, restart the Xbox and reinstall. Just in case the upgrade process from patching somehow corrupted some files. If you do this, please let us know if it works for you. Thanks.

Re: Backed NS2 6-7 years ago and do not have any badges
There was no backing badge? Badges where not a thing when you pre-ordered NS2, you got black armour from preordering, Then after release of NS2 they started something else that allowed you to donate and in return you got Badges / skins / artwork depending on the level you donated for.

Re: I might be nuts.. but i think NS2 is crashing my Internet.
There are router problems as well with common routers when trying to game wirelessly. A lot of steam games cause a packet overload on the router and it shuts down the source. This is more common if you use a generic IP provided router. Was a problem I had myself a few years ago. Solved it with a Network cable.

Often a server having 20 ms higher latency turns out to be in the end the server with less latency as soon as you ping it directly. I don't think anyone is aware about this little but important fact and that's why the the ping numbers are not shown in the server list to display that they are approximated in the first place. Why was this changed? A number tells me much more than bars.

Re: Subnautica Water Bottles now available! Each 1 sold gives 5 years clean water to 1 person in Africa
Hey everyone!
Thought we'd make an account so we can address a few things.
For every bottle we sell, we take a portion of the revenue and allocate it to a fund that is used to install High Lift Afridev water pumps in rural communities in the District of Wa (Upper West Region of Ghana).
These pumps typically last for 20+ years, and on average cost around $6000 to install and are used to serve communities of roughly 750 people.
$6000 (cost of the pump) / 750 (avg no. of people) = $8.00 (this is what it costs us to give one person clean water for 20+ years)
$8.00 / 4 =$2.00 (what it costs us to give one person clean water for five years)
For every bottle sold, we give between $2.00 to our African NGO partner (ProNet North) in order to fund these water projects.
The amount we give never changes although the % will fluctuate between 10 and 20 depending on the type of order. For large orders we can offer a discounted price which means the % donated is closer to 20%. Whereas for our retail orders it will be closer to 10% as the price of the bottle is $18.
In our particular case we make sure we work with the local people. ProNet North (http://www.pronetnorth-ghana.org), our NGO partner, is a Ghanaian organisation made up of local people. They help us target the rural communities who are suffering from a lack of clean drinking water.
The money from your bottle purchases it used to hire Ghanaian hydrologists (to tell us where to dig) as well as a locally-based drilling company (to dig into the ground).
This campaign bottle goal is not dependent on us installing pumps. 25 is merely the minimum number of bottle orders we need in order to physical print the bottles. We will be funding our next water project in Yipala Ghana helping 958 people and if this campaign hits 25 bottles it will go towards funding that particular project!
Really appreciate the feedback and will definitely work to improve the messaging on our website.
Super excited to make these bottles happen

I'm just curious, do you know by any chance how exactly they determine that just one of these bottles bought=5 years of water for a person?

Also by doing this you are damaging the economy of whatever country they are trying to "help" since this is taking jobs away from their local people.

they only install pumps if that project reaches a goal.

The_Welsh_Wizard wrote: »That is the new and improved tutorial. It is so much better than the old one. You can't have too long of a tutorial either.
Why not??? If there are many things to teach, the tutorial should have an appropriate length. You can split it into many different categories though, movement basics, basic strategy / tactics, combat basics, advanced tactics, skulk advanced movement etc so people can start with the basics and while gaining more experience continue with the advanced tutorials later.
As I understand it, the tutorial we have is meant to be the basic one. There were plans to make advanced movement tutorials but it seems those fell into the void.
The reason the tutorial has to be kept short is because it is partially forced. Rookies can only join rookie only servers until they play the tutorial.
Re: Can we just spawn correctly? - My rant.
Lucky Fkers has a mod that to some degree rejects the changes that have been made lately (lerks are still for 20 pres for example). I think this is the "compmod pub friendly" mod which might cause those spawn issues (meaning I think this mod is overriding the fix of the vanilla game)
