Ever since I can remember I have been fond of the underwater scifi adventure genre. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Mysterious Island, The Abyss, Cool Runnings. Ok, maybe not that last one but you get the idea. It's really awesome to play a game that lets me explore the ocean like some of my favorite childhood heroes.
So, what movies make you think of Subnautica? Here's a few that come to mind for me..
The Abyss (absolute #1 in my mind)
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
The Mysterious Island
Leviathan
Deep Star Six
Deep Rising
Deep Blue Sea (lots of "deep" things, huh?)
Sphere
Jaws 2? (whichever one the underwater base was)
Atlantis
And of course, Sealab 2021 (not a movie, I know)

In all seriousness, the Abyss was part of my childhood. It helped instill in me a fascination with the ocean and its depths that is still there today.
