Loaded up Tram, a small increase in performance. Max peak FPS is @ around 30 now in small corridors. But it still mostly hovers around 18-22 with peaks downwards to 9-12

Also Doors... i can't go trough them using any class on a localhost (cheats on). They gone done sabotaged our doors!

i used the search function, but couldn't find a clear answer, so i'm sorry but...how do you see your frame rate? is there a thread with console commands that would be useful? thanks!

Has the big lua performance improvements made it into this patch?

The start for that was actually Build171, gradually more improvements are going in regarding the new script binding code

Ah i thought it was going to be all in one go, that might explain the performance improvement i noticed recently, it seems at least for me the stutter is mostly gone, its still low fps at times but smoother if you know what i mean. :)
  • linfosomalinfosoma Join Date: 2009-05-28 Member: 67523Members
Yeah the stutter seems to be gone. Im getting around 50 fps average so it's mostly fine. It's still a bit laggy for me though.

Weird thing is though. FPS has gone down some, but the game feels smoother... Odd phenomena is odd!

Oh oh, and since the new lua thingy I can now load maps on the fly without NS2.exe telling me to GTFO. Well 8/10 times it doesn't crash, which is better compared to 10/10 anyway you sliceNdice it...

It was a small 4v4 on rockdown but I was able to play effectively without massive hitching in firefights and stuff (and at 100+ ping too), awesome! The performance is now thoroughly playable for me.
  • MagnetoMagneto Join Date: 2010-12-22 Member: 75856Members
Yeah the game finally feels quite playable to me, even though fps can be low at times the fact it's smooth makes a huge difference, ideally id hope for a reasonably stable 60 fps most of the time on mid to high end hardware but for now things are looking good. :)

This Beta is looking better and Better, I think I will need to get the BETA off steam and get involved in this.

Any good Northern USA/Canada Servers that are popular?

I love the added sound echos! Now you also hear that you are walking in metal corridors...

It took about 28 minutes for me, but I still had a CTD. As Kouji said, doors are completely fubared. They open when locked and you can see through them, but collision still happens regardless.

Server performance seems only slightly better for this patch, 172 was the biggest increase. It still "felt" like hydras / sentries / structures bogged down the server, but it is no where near as pronounced as before (which is good!). I feel a lot more work needs to be done to address this.

Hydras actually feel useful now, which is awesome imo. Alien armor is still almost pointless. As mentioned in earlier threads, the way armor and its upgrade are calculated makes it basically a moot point.

EDIT: Oh forgot one. When joining a game after crashing, I could hear the Marine comm over voice chat during the join process. Hugh (NS2HD) really gives some detailed instructions. ;)

I played for a bit and I had not a single issue. I was able to kill shotgun wielding marines with a fade or as a skulk. Can't wait for more content!

When i play as marine I can hear ONE step of alien paw (or whatever) at a random location when i stand still and listen. and there isn't even an alien nearby. whats that all about? i can hear it about every other 10 seconds or something like that. is that a bug or is there really an alien nearby like in a vent?
  • CaCaCaCa Join Date: 2003-06-12 Member: 17319Members
Yes, I noticed the same thing as ^ .

I'd hear an alien "step", but there were no aliens nearby, I'm sure of it.

Great work!. Not that it's anything new but I'm crashing a lot. I find that more often than not I'm crashing when purchasing something from the armory.

yeah, it still happens to me too. it will freeze and either i have to tab out which will instantly shut down the game and bring up a promt to send a log or it will crash to desktop on its own. usually i end up tabbing out quickly cuz i know it will never resolve itself.

and thank you Kouji_San for the links.
