Very good job guys, the changes are really visible in game and it is already better even if not fully playable yet :)

Thanks for the update.

Anyone know any servers running this build?

"Marines no longer start with an infantry portal - they must build one. Infantry Portals must be built near a Command Station."

Yay shotgun-rush-mode-without-ips feature has been re-added! xD (o wait... sorry out of touch with NS2... the com doesn't drop guns huh... guess its gonna be lmg rush still until "Marine commander can now drop guns" gets re-added xD).

The lag is worse. Really, really bad compared to the last release. Like I'm not even pressing buttons and my skulk is moving around and leaping. And it's not even based on previous button presses, like I'm running around and it's auto-leaping.

Might just be that server you're on.

There are no real reliable servers out there to really find out if the lag is phasing down.

first thoughts-

Local player lag issues are gone, but other players in the scene still have lag issues. So, as you move around it no longer reverts your position or anything, but the other players are still really stuttery. The hit reg seems a ton better though.

I've only played 5 minutes but it seems to me the lag is even worse than before.

Well done Max, much improved ... now only if we could fix up the performance a tad. PC play BC 2 on mostly high with good FPS but on med on this build cant get more than 20 FPS

Lots of potential in the game shown though... keep up the good work.

It's disappointing to hear there is still a lag issue, as that is a major repellent to players at the moment... But when you're patching this much at this rate, I can't imagine it surviving much longer.

Sound cut out after around 20 mins of gameplay. With some random plopping sounds. Tried to post on feedback but I'll have to make another account it seems.

I'd prefer a bump that push everything out of commander chair because a marine could be able to kill onos just by tricking him and log on comm chair

Someone said that there was a big hole near marine spawn, but he couldn't show me because of the massive lag on that particular server.
I am going to see if I can find it.

Yeah agreed. Now hit-detection is awesome but the "lag" (appears to be server CPU issues, not anything to do with networking) is very problematic. We're on it.

I had a great time, my computer is choppy and there is still mouselag (I guess the two goes hand-in-hand though) but it's considerably more playable.
We had a fun bug though during the game that everyone's sound went *fffzzzt!* for a moment and then no one across the server had any audio whatsoever ("SkulkPain" sound was missing as we saw in the console). But still pretty hilarious ^^

It's just getting to feel great now, not exactly playable for everyone yet but you're getting there soon. Awesome release!

You should focus on getting the fps up for everyone before fixing anything else imo - Its the issue, that keeps us from testing properly..

Optimize this and you'll have about 10 times more testers constantly around.

awesome to see another big patch, but I'm disappointed that you guys were so quick to cave in to community demands, mostly with marine building. it really wouldn't of hurt to have 1 playable patch that allowed us to accurately see how MAC-only building affects game play. I've got nothing against marine building, but this should ideally be the time to experiment.

Can actually test stuff now, good job, reg is massively improved and as has my performance, although I don't see anything about that in the change log (other than memory leaks).

I said it once and I'll say it again, you don't need 60 FPS to find bugs. If your at least getting 15-20FPS then your fine for now.

Lag issues come before FPS optimization.

still cant move w.o lagging like insane on my own lan server. and on the main menu. and everywhere. lag fail
• KayomaniKayomani Join Date: 2003-05-17 Member: 16399Members, Constellation
FPS aint too bad on my system but the lag makes it unplayable and should really be the top priority at the moment.

On the up side I managed to make my first kill tonight so its getting more playable ;)

I am currently unable to play because I'm not at my gaming rig. I am seeing some massive network spikes on our servers. Going from 0% to 18% up and down, could this be related to lag compensation?
