The solution to the dreaded destruction of rts.
In NS1, each res tower was priced at 15res per tower. i was thinking that maybe rts should cost 10 res and mining drones has to be build which cost 1 res each drone with a maximum of 5 drones per resource tower(both teams). Aliens can instantly build them and commander has to queue each drone. Im not sure how the mechanics would work but heres a suggestion.
The Resource Tower Branches off 5 slots for drones.
No drones=no mining but you get control of that area
1 drone=1 res every 8 seconds
2 drones=1 res every 7 seconds
3 drones=1 res every 6 seconds
4 drones=1 res every 5 seconds
5 drones=1 res every 4 seconds.
So if you have 3 rts with various amounts of drones, you would be getting res at different times instead of that 4 second rule of x res per rt every 4 seconds. 1 rt has 5 drones, another has 2, and another has 1. So you would be getting 1 res at 4 seconds at rt1, another res at 7 seconds at rt2 but since u have 5 drones at rt1 you get another res the second after that, and you get the idea.
The mining drones have low hp so that skulks or marines can dislodge and destroy the drones to disrupt mining, much like killing workers in starcraft to harm the opposing team's economy. The actual RT has the the same amount of HP but if a team really wants that area, they have to destroy the RT. Destroying the RT while all drones are attached destroys all the drones attached the the destroyed RT.
