    Yea, thats it!
E-Sport needs a new multiplayer game. There's only cr4p out there atm.
NS2 has great potential, keep it up!

Can hardly wait to play it =)

That lighting looks really good. I mean... Really good. I'm amazed. Keep up the good work guys!

Also, I don't mind waiting a while for news if it's all as cool as this particular news post.

Looks good, even with all the NS1 artwork.

In before all the comments about the fog...

Really well played UWE, that engine looks really resource friendly, those lights look really smooth and seamless, and the graphics still look really good, hell even NS1 models look pretty sweet.

My only grumblings would be that I was expecting more for such a long period of silence, but hey, I suspect I'll always be wanting to hear more no matter how much info is in a podcast.

I see this would take a lot of work with a small team. That's really something to admire.

It looks great, so much that I peed my pants. I must THANK YOU for implementing dynamic lighting! That's so awesome.

Now that I watch it again I see some unreleased artwork in the background. Also, female marine model looks cool. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    Nice lighting and editor.

Was there anything else there I missed?

I mean, sure, lighting is very important for an atmospheric game like NS, but... surely more happened the last 2 months than just work on lighting? What was that model, for example?
I guess the more time spent at work instead of at vidcast the better, though..

Im really impressed. I normally woud not want to help a game company bug test, but please consider what GPG is doing for demigod by allowing pre-orders and as a benfit, letting those people help test out the beta. even with school and work, i believe strongly enough in what you guys are doing to help out.

but about the podcast? yes, it was worth the wait. im really 'wowed' by what your team has put together. keep it up!

I was thinking that NS has been ended. Because there were only scetches and ideas but there were nothing real like this engine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> Unfortunately this engine is also a software . What is real then !

Anyway really really good work. I like lights, textures, shadders, hive and sensory chamber. I watched that frame again & again. SC & shadows are so impressive.

    Please work hard and serve a quick version including 3-6 popular ns maps and 2 popular co maps <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> And let us purchase this pre-version <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />)

Congratulations ! More videos and beta tests please ! Good luck !

That is 100% pure awesome! I'm really excited to hear that you're going for a fully dynamic lighting model. And those sun-rays look spectacular!
  • MarshalTTMarshalTT Join Date: 2005-01-08 Member: 33799Members
Very nice shadow and light effects! I would buy the game, even if it's the same like NS1 but have these effects and textures <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Next time please show us some character models and maybe some new weapons! And please don't wait 2 month with that. I'm runing an NS site and nothing to write about.. That is why every piece of little information is important for us, like this videocast!

Wait... If there still is LUA scripting in-game... can we use that to edit her cup size?

    Great work BTW.

Dude as soon as that blind open, I was like "oh my god...................", :O the lighting was so breath taking my mouth was open through out the whole video. And from that point, I knew that it was worth the wait *gasp*. When you passed through the glass room this was what going through my head "OMG OMG it exactly like the concept OMG" And THE HIVE ROOM, OH CRAP it finally glowing YAY!!! so cool just so cool. Funny how the dynamic light also works on NS1 weapons. The girl look great, the color is not what I have in mind though, I was expecting for it to be a little more darker than the old boring green color.

I also had spot some easter eggs. Those Concepts in the back ground, some of them have not yet been uploaded to the site. Mind telling us what you been hiding? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

Anyway, looking real good, now just to slap in some weapons models and players, and we ready for some NS2 action. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" />

I downloaded the HQ version of the video and its only 23,1 MB for me, not 40MB. Are you sure you linked/uploaded the HQ version of the video?

The devs are already proven geniuses and are more talented than anyone else in the industry TBH.

    Nice stuff, the engine looks fast <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Can we can some more shots of the female in-game character? You guys were frustratingly moving around her, when she seemed to be the most detailed model we've seen so far.

Nice work - i'm sure you'll find plenty of willing volunteers for testing various elements (i.e. the engine on its' own, with or without any player code, and so on)

    At least I can stop looking at the site 10 times a day for a while now - i've had my fix ! :-}

One question on the lighting model as a mapper. Radiosity looks great, and I think it's what makes the graphics in source still compare favorably with games that do their lighting more dynamically. There's nothing at the moment however that makes real-time radiosity tractable on scenes as complex as a game. Will you be doing anything in the lighting model to simulate indirect lighting, or will mappers have to manually place lights to get that sort of effect?

So true... xD Ive been furious about you guys not releasing anything for over a month. Btw, please dont call it dynamic lighting its degrading because of valve's ######ty feature, this is so much better! ;]
