Colour me interested. Interested as hell.

--Scythe--

P.S. Really. It's so awesome. Eldar vs Space Marines ftw. And a hint at 'nids.

P.P.S.S. Is this done by the same people that did the DoW intro? I wouldn't be at all surprised.

That was pretty fun to watch.

It's not the same people who did the DoW intro, if you're wondering. Good movie though.

That was great! The robo-eldar voice was a little weird, but I can roll with it. Nids should have been in DoW since the beginning. I guess Relic was trying to avoid what PA has described before:

    Not as good as the DoW intro <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

And why does the eldar sound like it's wearing a helmet when it's clearly not. WHY.

    Yeah, that was pretty awesome.

A question, though. Are the Eldar supposed to look like that (all humie like!) in the WH40k universe? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> I think all the Eldar units in the DoW series have some kind of helmet on, and I haven't looked into the WH40k universe otherwise.

    And I lol'd at the helmet voice. Made me think of this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" /> (and episode of <a href="http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=125235" target="_blank">the Horror - Dark Crusade</a>)

Eldar are basically space elves Retales, though admittedly they're usually almost never unarmoured during battle so you rarely see their faces. It's odd they decided to unhelmet the warlock/seer in that as they have helms too =o

heh... I had a look at that comic as I was curious and Buggo sounds like an interesting person. To quote off the wiki describing them:
"Buggo is notorious for willfully and cheerfully sowing confusion as to her gender and identity. Indeed, many people believe that she is actually an elaborately designed AI."

    XD

Like with the first DoW cinematic trailer, I could watch HOURS of this!
I really am not much into the lore, but space marines are awesome on so many levels. I read "The damnation Crusade" I believe it was, at least a couple of issues - anyone know of other similar comics?

It uses the Company of Heroes engine.

Also, from everything I've heard, the lengths at which they are going to get you more 'connected' to your units gets rid of way too many RTS things. I'm not exactly positive I like the ideas. Then again, I'm going almost completely off of GFW Radio coverage.

in DOW you see the DE without a helmet on the main screen if you've chosen the play that race - also, in-game, a number of the icons show the DE full face.

I was thinking along those lines for a bit, too. But hey... it's Relic. They haven't let me down yet.

More connected to your units? Sounds good to me... half the reason I don't really play RTS these days is because I enjoy controlling fewer, more detailed things than masses of expendable stuff or huge armies =3

I was the kind of player who'd build a fairly autonomous and well defended base in Star craft so I could spend the rest of the game flying around a swarm of wraiths or ghosts which I'd decided names for XD
  • BlackHawkBlackHawk Join Date: 2008-06-17 Member: 64467Members
Yes, the main reason I liked DOW is that each unit had a kill sync for it and there were stronger so you got farther with one squad <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> . This also makes me worry about SC2, about have'in to many units to control or just making then last about 2 seconds in combat.

Well, SupComm also has a level up system, and focuses on globs of troops. But it's definitely less pronounced than say C&C3 where level grinding your troops can make them godly. Squad of lv3 Mamoth Tanks? GG. In SupComm however it doesn't usually come into play a huge amount except for special units, like if you breach tech 2 or 3 before your opponent and rack up a bunch of kills with your bots, making them even stronger, or your commander, which could use the extra health for later tech levels.

Most of what they talked about revolved around more or less getting rid of Base Building and real resource management altogether. Units would be 'dropped' in, and even then, you'd only control 5 or 6 squads at a time.

    Sounds like Ground Control, meh.

It could be the resource system of Company of Heroes with the unit creation of Ground Control. That could work, yes?

The only similarity to Ground Control is that instead of arriving from a building, your dudes arrive from the sky. Why does that merit a meh?
