Just finished the last book, gotta say goddamn. That was a hell of a ride.

For those of you not in the know here, it's Stephen King's big honkin' series, his "Lord of the Rings". I know your thinking, "Ah yea Stephen King schlock horror garbage". Not true. All his other books are total popcorn, this series is his masterpiece. Just start with "The Gunslinger". It's a short read, I dare you not to be hooked.

I'm on the Waste Lands (Jake, part 3) right now.
Karma speaks the truth (Choo-Choo, and that is the truth). The books are awesome. The Gunslinger is a little hard to get into, but still fairly enjoyable. But after that it really starts to get good.

Edit: I have filled my random quote Quota for today.

Like I said, there's 7 books, many differant editions. Could be anything your friend was reading.

    T__T

I was racing my mom's boyfriend to see who would get to the end first. I stopped reading for like 3 weeks cause school was pouring it on, and I turn around and find him a book ahead of me. >_<

I'm on Song of Susannah. He's on The Dark Tower. God!! Aaaahhh.

I wanna read but at the same time I can't afford the time. I think I am going to go cry.

    Call me Fannin...

    Richard Fannin......

Shake the hand that shook the world, Roland.

I get the chills reading that line.

Flagg/Fannin/Ect. is possibly the ultimate badass.

    Ka is a wheel.

that, in my opinion, is the line which has the most meaning in the entire series. It basically explains everything.

    19

now, the first book, the gunslinger, was a flop. I hate to say it but its true. (I am a King fan btw) It was kind of boring and sometimes, confusing. But I can forgive that considering that he wrote that book when he was only nineteen.

    19

the rest of it was totally cool anywayz. Among my favourites are "wolves of the calla", "the drawing of three" and "the wastelands". I just luv Blaine the Mono. the ending of the series is a bit unsatisfactory but it is the way it has to end. It is the ONLY way to end.

    Long days and pleasent nights

And may you have twice the number

Absolutely wonderful series. I stopped reading after the Drawing of the Three because there was such a huge time lapse before the next one. I re-started when I found The wizard and the Glass and The Wolves of Calcucca had been released. Rencently finished Song of Susanhana and I am waiting for funds to go and buy the final book.
The Gunslinger was by far the hardest of them to get into but once you do the world never leaves you. I was quite amazed to find that Mr King and I both named our heros Roland and we were both 19 when we wrote the first book. Granted he is older then I am so he wins the thinking of the name first accolade.

Yes, I am being an english grammar nazi for titles today. I am bored at work, extremely bored.

I read his "the stand," "eyes of the dragon," and "insomnia."

    I think he's a really good writer.

I'd be on Wolves of the Calla right now if I could find it in any of my local libraries (no, I don't feel like buying it, I'm a cheapskate).

I actually found The Gunslinger pretty easy to get into, and I really enjoyed it. It's possibly my favourite so far because the way he wrote it made everything so... surreal. Like the world had actually moved on. I was completely zoned out the whole time I was reading it, moreso than pretty much any other book that I've read.

ypu guys realise that most of his other books revolve around the dark tower? im sure he didn't plan it liek that. It was simply Ka. You can see a part of "the stand" in wizard and glass i think. "insomnia" has something to do with it as well but i havent read it yet. "It" features something about a turtle, possible Manturin. "the talisman" and "the black house" has something to do with Roland's world. you can guess how "salem's lot" fits in. "eyes of the dragon" features a character called Flagg. Coincidence? maybe not.

and btw, there is a small story called "the little sisters of Eluria". its bout roland but happens b4 "the gunslinger". it can be found in "everything's eventual".

The whole King universe is pretty much laid out. Like it says, the Tower is the axle of the universe, all of them.

P.S. Desperation deals directly with the Can Toi and Can Tah.
