Will v2.0 be verboten?
I'm not posting this because I have some dumb idea that 3.0 is bad. I like many of the impending changes, and despite the fact that there are a few I don't like, I think it's generally going to be pretty cool. I'm quite looking forward to Focus, f'rex.
But I'm kinda hoping that there will still be a somewhat strong presence of 2.01 out there, and that's basically what I'm making this for, to ask if there will be. Look at 3.0. The very reason they gave it a full version number, instead of a .whatever, is that it's changed so much, it's going to be a different game in some ways. Despite the crap slung about 2.01 around here, I actually quite like the balance, and I'd like to be able to play things as they are now sometimes. Not saying 2.01 is perfect or anything, just that it's different enough from the new stuff, and I'm familiar enough with it, that I don't want to lose it. I think it'd be nice if maybe they included it as an option with the Steam release or something. Do you want to play Natural Selection, (as in 3.0) or NSClassic? (as in 2.01, or maybe even 1.x, for particularly nostalgic types) I think that would be a good thing. We've already got the new Combat gametype going in, so why not do that?
If all else fails though, I 'spose we could just continue play 2.01 the way we are now. I like this version, and if it turns out I like it better than 3.0, having to disconnect between each match to avoid getting Steamed won't be too horrible a price to pay.
