I'm not normally the one to ask on forums about my technical issues, but the web and IRC have turned up blank, and I have a feeling some of you (Monse for instance ) will know the answer to my query and be able to sort something out.
I just bought a new laptop. Windows XP Home, currently sitting next to my other Windows XP home PC, connected by a switch. Now the problem is, I would like to be able to access my hard drives on the PC from my laptop, and vice versa, but (and heres the tricky bit) without sharing the whole of both computers with the rest of my family who also have computers connected to the network (because I dont trust my sister not to accidently delete all my files ). Windows File sharing and setting up a network location have pulled blanks so far on being able to limit access, but there must be a way. Any help would be gladly appreciated.
(Anyone mentioning Linux as a solution is more than welcome to come to my house, make my laptop dual boot, then set up both the Windows AND the Linux on the laptop to connect perfectly, then find some software which works on Linux which could possibly be construed as being useful )
