"There are many, many more models available for viewing on the Fox3D Sketchfab page. Which ones would you most like to see make it into Subnautica?"

Honestly? All of them. I just love all the stuff.

That warper seems kind of similar to a fade.

Out of mere interest.. whats the thought pattern to outsource models?

I mean most small companies do stuff themselves (so far I know) but I can see reason of letting a specialised company do something also.
    Just wondering.

We almost don't even think of it as outsourcing, since we've worked with the same small group of artists for years now, on a fulltime basis, all the way back to the early days of NS2.

But flexibility and affordability are the key reasons for outsourcing for a small team like us. We can get a much higher caliber of experienced artists working with an outsource team like Den Fox 3d, as opposed to having artists in house, because we don't have pay a salary that can cover living expenses in an area as expensive as San Francisco, where our company is located. It also allows us to scale up or down as necessary, based on the amount of work we have at any given time , various deadlines, and budgetary considerations, because they can just add artists from their established team onto our project or pull them off and put them on another project much more easily then if we had to go through a whole hiring process ourselves.

Great models!! Id like to see a giant sea worm of some sort that lives in caves or burrow in sandy areas. small to gigantic. Maybe they even leave a type of residue in that area of sand that can be collected to use as a resource that makes a food source or spice that allows you to breathe longer underwater for periods of time when its ingested. I like the movie dune.... lol The gigantic worms mouths make a water vortex that can suck you downward to their mouth if you dont swim fast enough to escape the vortex. If you kill them no more residue to collect... and worth the danger to collect what they leave behind for whatever bonuses it entails.

SO COOL! I hope I see a giant cyclops dock. It doesn't need to be added in but if added it would be cool!

@fig or what they could do is you have to have some type of flask to scoop up the residue then put the flask into into the botanical_analysis_machine and then it could be used as a spice or some sort of power source.

Please Oh Please put the base components in. They are so ingenius and could offer so much more possibilities with even 2 new parts. Also could you make a grabber machine similar to the one that picks up the sea moth in the cyclops that will pick up the cyclops then attach a base part or something to connect to it? It will make the game so much better (poor JackSepticEye though :P ). Talking about cyclops' though maybe you could add different fonts to the customization. Thanks for the awesome game :)

Question. What Modeling Software do you guys at UnkownWorlds use. I am able to model basic things in blender but it is so tedious and very inneficent and your guyes models look like gold. Also what do you use to texture or is it in the software? Thanks. Have a nice day :)

I believe it's ZBrush or Mudbox then onto Maya for finalizing.

    What gives you that idea?

The fade hands or the fact it has it's own 'Blink' ability in that it can warp.. :D

you probably have tons of people asking this by now, but something i'm looking forward to if it ever happens is outrageously large creatures. making the New Sea Emperor looking like an ant. Something that you cant see all of it at once, but not only that but some of them would be passive (which Subnautica needs more of because only large, passive creature we have is the reef back. don't get me wrong it's pretty cool, but it would be even cooler to have bigger, better, and louder! Keep up the great work!!!

It's really cool to see the model and be able to spin it around any angle and zoom in... ty for that!

Let me give you my reaction the first time I saw that Warper. Which wasn't here because I prefer to avoid early access spoilers.

    "Oh shit an octoFade"

I would also love to so more like the moonpool as in 'can not fit in a sub'.
This would prevent you from ever being able to fully use, for example, a cyclop for a main base. You would need ground bases for certain stuff.

Obviously any diversity in plant, area and lifeforms is always a bonus to put it.. I doubt bloat could exist in a exploration game.
just... keep a eye on the performance when adding many unique things close together right. :D

The heart of the warper looks like the purple pine cones that you find lying around
