paper doll UI concept: different 02 tanks. started rambling second half is an idea for O2 for bases

ok, here is an idea for oxygen tanks for subnautica instead of there just being one tank there should be a tiered system for the tanks. as the player will require a tank in their, tank slot with the paper doll UI (atleast from what I understand.)

lets start this then.

for this idea I suggest lowering the start hold breath amount to 20 seconds, along with this have it so the player can craft a rig that allows them to have two tanks (takes up the tank slot but puts two more on the UI, the slots given can not hold rigs so no infinite air)

first off would be the emergency tank, this would be found in the escape pod, a long with the random loot, this would add 20 seconds to the players oxygen, this is there purely to convey that the player needs 02 tanks to stay under water for longer.

the first tank would look something like (image off of google)
SPA-300PK-N.jpg&w=350&h=350
the tank would only take a 1x2 area in the inventory and a player can craft them with 1 silicone though they can not be refilled unlike the standard tanks.

with this tank the player would have 40 seconds of oxygen, which would allow them to start grabbing materials for their first true tanks.

The first craft tank would be a standard O2 tank which gives 30 seconds of oxygen (aka the standard tank), this is not changed for the game but once the player crafts it they unlock a tank rig crafting, and a pack crafting.

Tank rig
info: this allows the player to have two O2 tanks or one O2 tank and a storage pack the player can only have one rig on at a time so no stacking rigs in the UI.
craft: 4 silicone

Storage Pack
info: can be placed in the O2 tank slot or in a Rig O2 tank slot adds 3, 5 block rows to the storage area.

the tank rig + 2 standard O2 tanks gives 80 seconds of oxygen, this is 20 seconds less then the standard as such the standard tanks would not be the only tanks the player can craft but others require the player to find fragments to craft them.

Other tanks

large tank
info: gives 50 seconds of oxygen per tank
craft: 6 titanium, 1 embalmed glass.

O2 cycler tank
info: gives 1 second of 02 every 2 seconds having 2 of them allows the player to swim for 5 minutes. Requires batteries.
craft: 6 titanium, 2 glass, 4 copper, 2 gold, fragment blueprint.
to recharge: remove from tank slot, hold in hand recharge like any other battery powered item, lasts 5 minutes while active is not active while in oxygenated areas.

compressed air tank
info: gives 360 seconds of oxygen per tank
craft: 2 titanium bars, 8 diamonds, 1 large tank.

With this idea I also have a side idea for tank refilling instead of allowing the player to just gain oxygen when they surface I think that only the base 30 (or 20 with idea) should be regained because of this the player would need to create a tank recharger, this would be a wall mounted item which can hold 6 standard tanks, 4 large tanks, or 2 compressed tanks. the recharger would take air from its area and use it to charge the tanks.

tank recharging mount.
info: take the same "slot" as a window or reinforcement plate, on a sea base. can hold tanks, and will charge them with oxygen from the base. the escape pod does have one but it can only charge 2 standard tanks, and nothing else.
limit: has slots which can hold either 6 standard tanks, 4 large tanks, or 2 compressed air tanks, can not mix tank types.
craft: 4 airsack, 4 copper, 2 titanium, 1 battery.

though I think air needs a rework before something like this is done.

for example a sea base should require either a oxygen pad area (a place the player can place compressed air tanks) or piping for it to have oxygen. cause it wouldn't really make sense for you to have a large base underwater that doesn't have on oxygen source.

So bases for example would need to have one of 3 parts

either a pipe line connector, algae bay, or Air tank storage.

ideas for each

Pipe line connector
info: this would be a top connection point for sea base segments, that would auto connect to any pipe line in range (one connection) once built, requires a pipe line in range or else it will flood the sea base with water.
craft: 3 titanium, 1 power cell, 1 pipe.
note: this has a power cell so that if the sea base loses power it will keep pumping air into the base for a while.

algae bay
info: crafted on exterior walls, this is a filter of sort that requires a slow "charge" before it starts putting O2 in the base, unlike other parts this one does not require power, but it does take 2 minutes before teh algae collects to the point that it can provide oxygen to a small base.
craft: 2 titanium, 5 coral chunks.

Air tank storage
info: a internal storage unit which can hold 8 standard air tanks, 6 large air tanks, or 4 compressed air tanks. This is dual use, it can either be used as storage so you can easily swap charged tanks to storage or your rig, or it can with the press of a button be used to flood the base with O2. Flooding the base is a good way to get a limited oxygen amount in the base.
craft: 2 titanium.

Also another side concept for air in sea bases, instead of them just having air, have them require the pumps as mentioned though with larger bases requiring more pumps and systems, think of it like the structure numbers with a single part giving a -2 to oxygen hold, and a single pipeline giving a +8 to oxygen hold, for this the numbers would be like so. (pipe line connector +8, algae bay +0 to +5, air tank storage +20/timed[can oxygenate a moderate base but is timed, if standard tanks lasts 50 seconds, large tanks 2 minutes compressed air tanks, 10 minutes])

sorry this is just rambling hope some one can make sense of it.
