Minimum hardware for 144 FPS

Would an r9 270x and FX-6300 be strong enough to get a consistent 144 FPS? I don't mind playing on medium or low graphics.

    Welcome,
I don't think so... Don't expect much more than 60 in any modern game. Not with mid-end GPU. I assume you plan to use fullHD resolution.
    Read this(describes one 144FPS rig): forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/135605/minimum-specs-for-playing-constistently-at-60fps

Thanks for the info. I loaded up a server that had around 30~ players in it which I know reduces performance slightly, and my FPS averaged from 90 to 120. I suppose its fine, just unfortunate as I'm very used to 144 :(

This was on 1080p, maybe on 720p 24 player servers 144 will be achievable, will have to check later today when the east coast servers are populated.

Well yeah with the FX-6300 you run into a hard cpu limit with ns2. Even the i3 4150 beats the fx-6300 in single core performance (atm the imho ideal price-perf gaming cpu is the i5-4460 btw).

Anyway to lower the cpu needs of ns2 avoid any large slot servers (more ents = more stuff to do for the cpu), enable multi-threading physic and otherwise wait for the next patch which should give you a 10-20% fps boost as it lowers the cpu load of the gui a lot.

A minimum of an i5 along with 2 970's in SLI will be a good place to start lol.

    Small tip:
You want as much fps as possible?
Then dont play on large servers.

You lose around 40% of your possible fps on these large servers in heavy fights compared to 18 slots.
So im sure you can reach your 144fps on lower slot ones.
