Dedicated Server: Failed To Call Calculate_____

Hi, I'm trying to set up a dedicated server through steamcmd.
I've downloaded/validated appID 4940 and downloaded/run the PhysX, DirectX, and Visual C++ 2005 links from the wiki.

I currently try to run the server using this script:
c:\Users\pyro\Documents\steamcmd\ns2server\Server.exe -name "NS2 Server" -map ns2_tram -limit 24 -console

I get the following text:

C:\Users\pyro\Documents\steamcmd>c:\Users\pyro\Documents\steamcmd\ns2server\Server.exe -name "NS2 Server" -map ns2_tram -limit 24 -console
Build 269

The "Failed to call" lines will continue until I close the console window, at which point the PhysX and memory leak errors appear.

If I try to connect to the server I begin connecting and then disconnect with an "Invalid Data" message.

    Please validate your set-up via
    app_update 4940 validate

    with the steamcmd another time.

    "Success! App '4940' fully installed."
Still same errors as described above

Strange, could you check the ns2 folder inside the main folder and look if there is a game_setup.xml?

There is not; I thought the wiki said it was now unnecessary

It totally is that's why your server is not starting :). The weird thing after doing a validation it should be there ... Could you make a screenshot of what is in the "ns2" subfolder after validating another time.

So now a gamesetup.xml has magically appeared amd I no longer get the error (only thing I've done is app_update validate, not sure when it appeared), but I still have these errors:

    Pyro / Others,

In testing automation tools for NS2 server setups, we have experienced this log spam in both linux and windows test setups. We were able to resolve it by launching the Server.exe from within the actual NS2 install directory. This should resolve both the unable to load game_setup.xml warning and the error spam.

One way to go about the fix would be to create a simple batch script to start up your NS2 server, and place something similar to the following before your launch line:

    pushd C:\full\path\to\steamcmd\install\directory\chosen\for\your\ns2server

    --

The directory has to be the full path to the NS2 server files (Server.exe, etc). NOT the directory in which SteamCMD itself is installed in.

The fix also works in linux/ubuntu, simply add a 'cd' line above your launch code within a simple bash shell script:

    cd /full/path/to/steamcmd/install/directory/chosen/for/your/ns2server

Hopefully that helps resolve your issue!

    All the best,
