instead of saying "Marine lose" or "Alien lose" say "Marine wins the lose." or "alien win the losing game"

Might not be such a bad idea to look for ways to spice it up for the losing team. Marines are clearly losing -> unlock a special set of taunts "They are all over the place!" or "Creepy bastards".
Or somehow let aliens hunt down the last player in a race etc.
ZzzZzzz's I-) above a players head that has stopped moving as the game ends, aliens see that and go for him first ;))
There'd be another set of ideas for when aliens lose.

Not sure however if it's possible at all to determine the game state with enough precision to be a trigger for those.. With weird turnarounds, this could cause the most hilarious scenes.

Someone should make a mod that replaces the marines/aliens win/lose graphic with a picture of shrek's face and "it's all ogre now"

People are affected by subtleties and suggestion wether they realise it or not. These types of suggestions can be simple solutions to complicated problems and shouldn't just be dismissed so casually.

I don't play LoL, but they have famously done a lot of subtleties to combat toxic players - it has even contributed to scientific peer-reviewed papers.

Many of the tactics they used is exactly this type of language they use on the display screen, not just the victory screen but also loading screen and even in-game. Having positive display screens rather than negative ones show a significant change in the amount of toxicity that happens in online games. They found out that even the color and font of the texts have massive implications to the toxic behaviours of players.

Wether this is enough to stabilize player retention, is doubtful at best. But there is merit for sure in these types of suggestions.
