You may or may not be aware that a few months ago I contacted ModDB and got them to add Natural Selection 2 to the database, so we could publish our NS2 mods.
The idea behind this is that promoting the mods through ModDB, increases the visibility of NS2 in both ModDB and IndieDB. More visibility means more promotion. My aim was also to help back-up the claim for UWE that NS2 is mod friendly.
I have now just released my 2nd mod - GorgeCraft on ModDB and updated some news on my first mod. I regularly get a lot of hits on my news updates, and I'm sure there are a lot of link backs to NS2 as a result of the interest in my mods.
My plan here in this project is to get more of the mod makers to publish their work through ModDB, and to encourage more use of ModDB/IndieDB by the members of the NS2 community, to help promote UWE and all the game, as well as promoting our own mods too :)
I would certainly like to see Insight uploaded to ModDB, as well as players GMOvermind after the re-write, and I'd be interested in seeing MvM and NS2c make an appearance too.
Community support for the mods and NS2 through these sites will really help, so pop along to mod pages, and the NS2 pages themselves, and raise the profile.
For any advice or assistance with uploading mods to ModDB, please feel free to talk to me, and I'll give you all the information I can :)
As an idea of figures for Proving Grounds:
ModDB - 2,142 views and 183 downloads of my mod since uploading on March 7th Duplex - (most popular NS2 community download site currently) has 80 downloads of my mod (no view counter) since Feb 18th.
