Anyone seen it yet?
As always, no spoilers, unless you use spoiler tags or you will be gorge rushed.

I have to say I really enjoyed the movie. I mean it was complete bull###### from a logic point of view, but as long as you don't mind that you will probably enjoy it.

Favorite scene:
Hulk lands next to Loki after a big battle.
Loki: You can't stop me. I'm a GO....!
Hulk grabs Loki and SMASHES THE ###### out of him.
Loki flattened on the ground, release a painful whif of air: ooood.

9/10 would watch again.

So, yah, I was at the Tribeca Film Fest premier last weekend due to having awesome friends.

The movie is pure, unadulterated, awesome.

Sure, it was fairly meh in the story drive, but the action and dialogue really managed to make up for it. My friend and I have been earning the beatings our friends wish to give us for seeing it early (for the US) by randomly quoting stuff from it at each other, and generally being pests.

    And Hulk? ... Hulk Smash

    I have an Army!
    And we have a Hulk.

It gave the 'ole suspension-of-disbelief gland a serious workout, but it was super enjoyable.

Was it just me or was the final fight scene a bit spoiled by the fact that either the supersoldier, the billionaire in a robot suit, the massive walking tank or the demigod periodically popped down to see how gun lady or arrow guy were doing? They felt a bit outclassed, it was incongruous.

So, On an artistic choices note, I was fairly interested by some of the choices for camera shots.

There were about 3 shots from inside abandoned cars.

And reflection shots for conversations were used repeatedly also (where either one or both of the people in the conversation are shot indirectly via a reflection off of something in the shot). Specifically I'm thinking of one of the shots of (iirc) Captain America talking during the final battle and it all being shot in a side mirror of a car, and a chat between Loki and Black widow, where he appears in reflection.

For such a straight "We are going to blow stuff up and feed you a series of masterfully crafted one liners" movie, they felt sort of odd and out of place.

PS: a reminder for the rest of the world, us Americans don't actually get the movie until tomorrow, any one happen to know why?

It is an action movie with fantasy fiction super heroes. Don't try to pick apart the logical and scientific parts, foos.

Of course it was... I meant that the comic book logic was flawed... by that I mean everybody is immortal, yet when they're put in a dangerous situation, they get scared of getting killed? Oo

I enjoyed it! I don't like Captain America as a hero, not sure if it's because I'm not American (and thus have no patriotism towards the country) or if it's just because he's an old fashioned super hero designed 70 years ago, but he doesn't really seem to have any super powers (in before you tell me Batman doesn't either) or any inner demons to battle; he's so... 'plain'; I was kinda "meh" with his scenes, but still a good watch.

They aren't "Immortal" the Asgardians. They are just extremely hard to kill. Read up on the demon, Surtur (Odin seals him in the comics tens of thousands of years ago, but basically Diablo or the Devil in Asgard).

Captain America, is the way he is because of his never give up attitude. It was the reason they picked him for the Super Soldier program because he never wanted to give in, even to temptations. Aside from extreme strength (nothing like Thor or an Asgardian) and healing factor he brings that never give up attitude with him to every fight. It is a more or less a symbol of pride to be "Captain America" than to be almighty and unstoppable.

A perfect "turn your mind off and enjoy" movie. Yup, it can quickly fall apart when you think about it, but this is one movie I am ok just taking it as is. Transformers movies: take note here.

And yes, that scene Panigg mentioned left me in stitches. The main thing I learned from this movie is the respective levels of "power" for all the heroes. I had no idea the Hulk was so much higher than anyone else.

God damn the Hulk was so good in this movie that it made the others look bad. Lots of good comedy, iron man was awesome as usual.

haven't seen it yet but kinda bummed no Edward Norton for the hulk, alas I don't expect much of Banner just HULKSMASH

however I think this will be perfect senseless action fodder and I will give it a pass for being pg-13 (kinda like MIB 3 I'm stoked)

    just suspend disbelief and enjoy...

It may have just been you. For not having 'super powers' or 'super suits' I think they did a good job of still making them useful (ie; arrow guy coordinating from a top the building) while acknowledging the fact that they can't solo an army.

I'm mostly with SentrySteve on this one. Hawkeye held his own in much the way he is supposed to. A master of tactics, and making every shot count, instead of just whole sale destruction like Hulk, Thor and Iron Man. Blackwidow however, her part of ultimately 'winning' everything (by getting to the cube, finding out how to do everything, etc etc) seemed contrived.

    hehehehe

I see what they did there!

I'm fairly worried about them using Thanos tbh. I mean, Thanos' weakness is that he sets himself up to fail. Seriously, that's actually the main way he loses each of his main conflicts. On top of that, if it's Thanos + Infinity Gauntlet (or even just one of the gems) he should be so ridiculously powerful that he would have to make himself lose again.

    Change of origin for who?

And yes, That was Thanos at the end. A screwy uber powerful Titan, who periodically gets his hands on doomsday devices or stronger stuff (The Infinity Gems), is confronted by a random smattering of Marvel Heroes (who ever they feel like tossing at him), who eventually defeat him, generally because he lets them (He literally kills/destroys/transmutes all of the heroes arrayed against him, and then brings them back).

He is basically Marvel's version of Superman only pure evil. He runs into death literally once and she gets bored turning herself into stone until he does something to "amuse" her. So he travels around the Universe destroying and killing anything he pleases in hopes to revive his Mistress Death. He smashes the Silver Surfer a few times (hint at his abilities). So his pure evil smile of joy when told of Earth, seems like a very good foreshadowing at the next Avenger's movie.

Watch them make him pull a Dr. Doom (when he takes over the Earth and gives it back) sort of thing...

Hulk (and Banner) is the main comic relief...? Oddly acceptable, because it is completely in character and uses smashing and completely bad ass behaviour. While Banner's funny is also in character. Really good stuff!

Some broad's gonna be all sulky at Thanos unless he kills many people, so he kills many people? Man, comic books have the BEST writing.

Bonus point: Rewrite the above, film noir-style. Replace "broad" with "dame."
