Today is the day. Hope lots of people participate.

This is my Hydro room. An underground river was harnessed to spin some turbines, and generate electricity. The water is then pumped underground and chilled, as well as electrified, so it becomes sterile for use. Purple light is ultra violet.

I'm only a few days into this room. I was inspired by Half-Life, but I did not use any concept art or anything. Just sort of sketched it out in Spark without planning, made sure I had a solid greybox before starting.

    I like the cylindrical cage with the falling water in that first shot, Zastels.

    I didn't get to do too much work on my map due to spending most of my time at the Hospital seeing my brother (who gets out today so I have to hurry this up quick and go pick him up.)


    Progress this week for me was adding walkable upper scaffolding in the first picture. I spent most of my time working on that floor in the second shot, and third shot was adding a fan to the center of the ceiling.

    I've just recently left block geometry phase. Here's the first 2 functional rooms. I'll have two tech points next week if this continues.

    I thought I'd give my mapping skills a try.. and I have gotten a very basic hang of the spark editor.
    There is still plenty I need to figure out, for example how to map the power grid, and how to set height map and stuff like that.
    Would love to get some hints and general help with previously mentioned stuff btw.

    The map I've been working on is called NS2_Hallway and its currently on alpha build 2, and has just gotten its basic form, air ducts and ventilation are planned but not placed yet, same for 3 more smaller rooms for each team.

    The purpose of this map is that you have to advance to gain a foothold, the more "land" you loose, the harder it gets, I will have cleverly placed ventilation to all rooms, so not all the fighting is done in the corridor.

    The corridor will be full of miscellaneous things that blocks the view, so aliens will stand a chance.


    Anyways here's some screens starting from marine spawn going across to alien spawn.

    ^ Looks great man, loveing the colour and scale and use of props.
    Can only suggest to simplify up the floor texture in the first shot, makes things kind of confusing. And maybe throw some more spotlights around. I know they're in there, I just can't see them, if you know what I mean.

    This so good! It's completely red light, but it doesn't look like you'd expect. Reminds me of the C&C Nod hallways or something. It's really good sci-fi weirdness this games needs.

    Can you post some other colours, maybe like a blue or green? It'd be interesting to see.

    This is nice, some good space in there. Looks kinda NS1 in terms of some of the geometry I see.

    I guess I can finally show some of the stuff I am working on. I am still working on the gray box so I don't have an alpha to throw out for playtesting the layout. Perhaps once I get that far I'll start my own thread. For now however here are some screens of the few rooms I felt comfortable enough to start detail passes on. They still need a bunch of work and probably some lighting changes. I was pretty conservative on the saturation in some of my lights that will probably get another pass.

    I forgot about those panoramic shots you can take, it looks really awesome Kouji.

    I think your marine area is one of my favorite shots I've seen so far.
