    Only thing I don't like about the FOV change is that the weapon viewmodel fov has been reduced. It makes the hands and weapons look really close to your face. I think the devs changed it to stop the problem with being able to see under the Onos viewmodel, but I think it looked much better in the last build apart from that small bug.

    CS:Go beta has the same problem but they have console options that allow you to set a custom viewmodel fov as well as adjusting it's position. It would be nice if there was a console option to change this in NS2. I'd gladly accept the small bug with the onos viewmodel if my weapons didn't look so chunky.

    It doesn't look too bad here but the pistol and shotgun especially look really chunky and in your face. Unfortunately I didn't take any screenshots of them in the last build to compare. Please allow us to change this via the console options, I don't see any reason not to, it's just about what is comfortable for the player.


    [EDIT] Quick hack method to change it back - edit /Weapons/ViewModel.lua and change "local standardAspect = 4 / 3" instead of the default.

    This won't work on servers once they introduce lua file checking though =(


    Also, does anyone know how to bind mousewheel to change weapon? It's stopped working for me this patch.

    bug: when evolving upgrades, if you already have 1 upgrade and try to upgrade more, it will only cost 2 resources but it won't let you upgrade unless you have enough resources to pay for both.

    e.g. let's say you have 1 hive cara, and then you get a 2nd hive. in order to get both cara and regen, the buy menu says regen only costs 2, but if you have less than 4 resources it won't let you evolve. the 2 resources are deducted correctly.

    I am the only one with heavy fps drops in presence of marines? Especially after the latest patch..
    When they are 2 or 3 fraps marks average of 25 fps, when i enter the main base of the Marines may fall as low as 17/18..
    Could you tell me if it's normal? My config is in signature

    After few hours I noticed few bugs.

    1. As Marine commander (not sure if this happens as alien comm) you cannot build anything. I was commanding and suddenly (after 15min) I couldn't build anything. Also none else couldn't build anything too. In same match when I was commanding I got an error and game started to be laggy and then crashed. This happened few times again when I went to command station, game just starts to lag and then crashes.

    2. Sometimes (happened once for me) an alien egg spawns outside of map. Then you can evolve to Lerk and snipe marines from outside map. Won once when I destroyed marines comm station from outside map and they couldn't kill me. Also in tram (?) aliens eggs may spawn inside a floor in Repair room and when you hatch you are in stuck. In one match this happened for me 3x in a row and had to kill myself.

    3. Noticed same as Wheeee, u need resources for all selected upgrades but you only lose amount of resources for upgrades which you are missing.

    I saw this happen a few weeks ago, can't remember which map it was on though. It's definitely not new with this build though. What map were you on when it happened? Do you remember which hive spawned the out-of-bounds egg?

    The next time you find an obvious exploit like that, it would be much more considerate to suicide rather than use the exploit to win the round. There are tons of ways that you can cheat in NS2 currently, and we are pretty much on the honor system to not ruin the game for each other. Once you did 1% damage to the comm chair you confirmed that the bug was exploitable, there's really no need to destroy it and ruin the game in progress.

    We've fixed the issue with spawning outside the map. We'll look for the getting stuck issue you mention.

    This strange thing happened to me on mineshaft:

    (Near end-game so there were a tonne of entities) Every time I respawned and moved about, I could see the inside of my head, and occasionally my player's model. So, if I ran forwards my player's model kept getting in my face and took up the entire centre of the screen. Also, it kept saying "Hold 'E' to build Mine" when I got close to the armoury. Not sure where else to report this.

    Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the "Hold 'E' to build Mine" thing :\ lol you can kinda see I'm afraid to go near the armoury because the closer I got to it the more glitched out it was.

    Leaving the hive as onos after being com, gives some clipping problems. My view got zoomed out of the map and then somehow the onos falls back to ground.
    And the screen starts flickering.

    It's easiest to reproduce when you enter the hive in crushing as onos and then logout.

    Build 196 is going great! Performance seems better and marines are definitely doing better in my opinion. However, I've played a few marine games and I've discovered that nodes couldn't be built by marines on Summit. Anyone else encountering this problem?

    I found that logging out of the hive as an Onos in the Ore Transfer hive you get placed behind the hive and cant get out.

    I was wondering if there was anything in the works to allow spectating in first person view? I am a firm believer that first person view as spectator is a very basic form of anti-cheat. I am in no way saying that at this time I have felt any player I have encountered has been cheating. I am just saying that as this game progresses I think it is very important to be able to spectate someone in first person to be able to observe their mouse movements and such. I also think first person view tends to be a more enjoyable way for a match to be broadcasted (when mixed with third person also). I have just seen many games fail lately and I believe the inability to spectate in first person was a contributor. I'm sure some people remember Brink.

    There are two other things I would like to suggest. One being that when you bring up the menu by pressing escape that you also are able to get rid of the menu by pressing escape again. It can be a nuisance to press escape and then have to click the return button. Also I think you should be able to join servers from the server list by double clicking on them. Again these are two smaller nuisances that should probably not be prioritized but should definitely be looked at.

    Had my first game on 196 and the first thing I noticed was the FOV change. I don't like it at all and have just had to come off the game as it was making me feel sick and now has a fish eye sort of effect. It was fine in 195 for me so why the change or at the least the option to set it to our liking? I'm afraid I wont be able to play as it is.

    I have a 24 inch display at 1920 x 1080. I sit about 2 feet from the display. I have tried putting my screen further away from me but makes the fish eye effect more noticeable.

    Its all about options and personally I set my FOV in most games at 80 - 85. This to my eyes feels perfect but for others it wont. This is why we need a way to change it in game or via a console command/ini tweak. I have just read several posts about 196 being set for 4:3 screens and as I use a 16:9 I would like to set that and then adjust the FOV to suit me. Old builds of NS2 had the fish eye thing and higher FOV and that also made me feel a little ill but put up with it as I felt sure UW would give us the options in the game to adjust it. Its been better for a while and now its back in 196 and making me feel ill again.

    When trying to start a server the loading screen comes up and it seems to stall right there. No zoom effect, No dots ...., nothing for what feels like five mins but probably more like two minutes. Then the picture changes and a second later it finally crashes for real and then I submit my report.

    The game ran pre-190 and I had tested each build all the way back to the beginning alpha and really enjoyed the whole proccess of updating each build and experiencing the evolution of everything in the game. You guys know what I mean. Anyway, now I'm having withdrawal symptoms and the worst part is I really want to play with the post Gorilla stuff and can't.

    If Max or someone could share any theories they may have on my situation and if so maybe give me some key words to watch for on the Pivotal Tracker.

    Is it just me or has anyone else experienced lag issues and problems with hitdetection in general since 196? I play on the same servers as i used to in 195 (which worked just fine), the average ping for most players is arround 40-50 and yet there seem to be way more lags -Lurkers flying arround the maps with like 10 fps, and barely hitable unless you aim 5 meters ahead, and even then its more of a luckshot then aim.
