So i've been working on a map and its still pretty much simple geometry with minimum props. I've mostly worked on getting an interesting layout and I wanted to show you guys where I'm at so here is the minimap.

    The mouth of the "turtle". Its like some sort of cargoship.

    I'll add in some props after if that's what you want to see.

    Wanted to show some "ingame screanshots" of that with that hive up and protected but I need to figure it out with steam.

    I wanted to spam a bit more hydras and *&#^ but the cheats for plasma and carbon don't work no more.

    Edit: Updated view of BRIDGE tp, Still needs some texture,props and proper lighting pass. I'm not sure about how i want to treat the window, not too fond of the washing out effect of current window model.

    Looks nice, but isnt that quite open and big space? Isn't that going to be quite problem when NS2 won't have mouse lag anymore, game is working fast and Hit register is fixed..? Marine can easily shoot down skulk or lerk or what ever is in sight.

    Also, near big red boxes, floor texture looks quite stretched. Can you chop floor more or use smaller scale on texture?

    I think this is looking great so far! It's good to see you planing out your map before building it, I'm currently doing the same.

    I think you should just go ahead and keep doing what feels right. I wouldn't worry about areas being too open much because the game is still beta and you never know what changes will be made. I've got elevators and ladders in my map : p

    The first pic is my fav I really dig what you did there. I look forward to seeing your tram section I think I see from the overview. I think a lot of maps have a tram station of sorts so it'd be interesting to see how they all differ.

    The layout and texture placement looks great but imho you need to improve the lighting. Currently I think it looks all very equal. I miss the special NS2 atmosphere. But keep on the good work! I hope that i can play it soon :)

    All jokes aside, this is one hell of an interesting map. I really hope it plays well because the environment is incredible. I feel like I say this about too many maps coming out, but frankly there's just so much mapping talent around here that I wish you guys worked on some other games that could use the talent :P

    Hahaha yeah this map is kinda a joke, :D It is called turtle because of the general shape of the layout and one of the goals in creating this map was to makes it impossible for you to turtle in your base!

    The map is shaping up to look great! I actually prefer the lighting approach your using for this map. I would love to do a run through of the map with you, myself and Tempest from Inversion on one of our servers. Shoot me a PM if your interested so we can make this happen! Great work bro!

    I think I want to "complete" this map before I release for testing. Once I complete I will send it to you guys for some testing and If no problems release publicly. I'm not looking to make a perfect map and have even intentionally broken some of the valued 'rules' of a good NS map. Some things might work some things won't but I can deal with that.

    Release is sooner than I expect, after 6 months in real production, over two years of planning and testing, and 27 years of personal development things are really coming together in ways that amaze even me :p

    To tease a bit more, screens of alien spawn "Cargohold"

    -Trying to find a balance between dark and too dark. I do want undetected pouncing alien from above though :p

    -It is difficult to show what its all about in the screens because the areas are vast. Contrary to looks though it is very easy to get around :p

    Why to make a beautiful map that play horribly?
    That kind of map will be tried once or twice by a lot of people just to realize that you can't actually have a good game in the map and then forgotten forever.
    I would seriously consider doing playtesting in very early during the map development.
    Please let people to test the gameplay of the map. It will save you from a huge load of work and make the final result much much better.
    Testing and iterative development is what makes good things perfect!

    Evil_bOb1, This map looks fantastic, looks more NS1 (which is a plus!). You should think about trying to get it into the actual game!

    By the way,if you want to change the name ever, into something a bit more potent but still turtle related, I suggest Archelon or Terrapin
    it would fit nicely imo

    Wow that looks awesome! I love how you've have tons of little lights all throughout the map, really makes some of the geometry pop. Can't wait to test it!

    I gotta agree with China; Archelon sounds a lot better than Turtle (plus, Archelon could actually be a viable name for the space-station its self).

    I like Turtle. Its a spaceship and it could be T.U.R.T.L.E. Or TSA Turtle, just like uss dolphin, uss dogfish or uss tigershark. Maybe its a slow but but heayarmoured transporter or whatever.
