an idealy idiot proof guide to bhoping
I guess I'll start off with an introduction, my name/handle is PhynxPhire, I've been playing NS for nearly 5 years, about 3&1/2 of those years where competitively played between Cal, NSDojo, Ansl and so on. So I hope that my credentials will be up to snuff for teaching.
I'm creating this topic because of how essential bhoping (bunny hopping) is to a players skill base.
-=The plan: Record actual motions of both of my hands and screen while bunny hopping.=-
-=The result: There's no more excuses for not understanding the concept of the bhop.=-
-To start it off a text based explanation on the basic bhop (there are many different styles)-
Step1: Push the 'W' key to get an initial run up. Since this is for aliens, hold your crouch key the entire time for all steps to prevent sticking to anything.
Step2: RELEASING the 'w' key press the strafe key (D or A) and move your mouse in the direction of the strafe(ie: if 'A' move mouse left or if 'D' move mouse right by say 30 degrees) + JUMP (Note: It is important that you start your "swing" slowly to get a "feal" for the dynamics.)
Step3:You will now initiate a forward curved jump , in the left or right direction(Please note never to use the 'w' key for acceleration here after).
Step4:When your about to land after the first jump, hit the opposite strafe key and curve your mouse in the same direction of your strafe and hit jump EXACTLY when you land after the first jump. Doing this a little too early or little too late will cut the bunny hop.
IF You got the timing and mouse movement right you will quickly move forward faster, and you will need to repeat Steps 2 to 4 repeatedly.
Confused? Don't worry it's difficult to understand the concept through text, which is why I will be accompanying a video. (which will be commentated)
Finally. I want feedback from the community on whether or not you like this idea, or if you even have the desire to learn how to bhop.
