    Not too long.

I went into a corner, shot one portal in the ceilings corner above me and one in the floors corner. Went to the bathroom, came back and tada...

So it takes not more than 5m.

If your Portals are a little off though, you start moving, and eventually you'll land on ground.

That's one of the techniques of the game... Basically, start somewhere, look straight up, shoot portal, without moving sideways at all, look straight down, shoot portal, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />?, profit!

I know, it still doesn't work, but that "Portal Funnel" option helps out.

    Portal Funnel?

    I will mention one thing.

I found that if I stayed looking down I was good, if I looked up I would fall out within the next 2 iterations.

I haven't gotten the award yet, but it was the first thing I poked at when I got the second half of the gun.

I can't seem to get the 30k feet achievement either. maybe I need to try a room with higher ceilings, but I've fallen for like 10 minutes and nothing happened.

i just loaded up 13advanced and made a loop in the beginning right next to the elevator, took a shower, came back and i had it. Looking down and having portal funnel checked is the key to staying in the loop, as soon as i looked around i went out of it.

I don't know, I used the cube as a tool and just deflected energy balls with it. T<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>he last sub-puzzle I did before burning it where it's a small side room I just used the cube to bounce the thing into the receiver. </span>I forget, was it even possible to make portals in there? For a companion cube, you definitely didn't have to take much care of it.

    Thats how I did it.

The Advanced Chambers are awesome. Could only complete four, because I had to play through EP2, which is just as awesome as Portal.

The chamber with the couple of sentries that are caged is amazing. How can something so simple as a cage make the level so much more complicated. Makes for completely different thinking than the first time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

All I have to say is:

    Portal > Episode 2

And I haven't even started on the advanced maps yet.

My opinion is based on the amount of fun I've had while playing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Portal has a really bizarre tone, and it works fantastically. I don't think I've ever found something to be simultaneously so hilarious and sinister, silly and scary.

I think it kinda more like a general internet thing. Anyway, I finally completed it! I had to segment my playtime cause I was getting nauseous from playing it. Kinda funny how the last level made up half of the game, but it was pretty fun <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Completed advanced. I'm not so intent on completing the achievements since they don't present as much of a challenge as the TF2 ones. For instance, getting all the cameras just seems like a chore transparently designed to increase game time (which is essentially what the XBox achievements system is all about).

    I completely agree.

I'm still having a hard time getting over the experience that was Portal. The second half was absolutely terrifying to me. The psychological atmosphere that was suddenly created with almost no change in the gameplay is really what amazes me. I spent most of the escape in claustrophobic fear, completely absorbed by the voice's maniacal taunts. I'm still haunted by the lack of answers and the way Portal ties into the HL universe.

<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>I was expecting a straight port of Narbacular Drop, which had a certain continuity throughout, so I really imagined I would be done at level 19. The escape took me completely by surprise, and as such I didn't realize how long it really was. I ran for my life the entire time, hoping it would end! Still, there was continuously reason for a smirk with the voice's humorous comments. When you think that there's one weapon, and almost no enemies to speak of, it's an incredible feat of story-telling. </span>

I think I'll be writing my thoughts in a clearer format soon. But again, a salute to Them, who will hopefully relay our appreciation to the rest of the team.

Probably due to me leaving them connected while changing settings, contrary to the sound manager's instructions. Once I figured that out, I was able to turn off closed captioning.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

They might still be working. I had that problem where, if I put my ear up to the 'not working' speakers, then it would just be a very quiet, dull, monotonous sound. But they are still working, it just has to do with your speaker settings, and sometimes the windows speaker settings won't work and you need some sort of weird company-developed (your sound card's company) sound-board-controller-thing just to make it work.

Just saying, don't throw those speakers out, trouble shoot the hell out of it. Somewhere in your system you are not set to 5.1 surround sound and it's conflicting, and it could be set somewhere where you can't access, IE, a setting on a control panel that you don't actually have yet. Thats how it was for me.

    "put me down!"
    "where did you go!?"
    "i see you"
    "there you are"

haha i love these things. imagine if turrets could be knocked over in ns.. i think they would have to increase the damage on the turrets !

That almost exactly describes my experience. <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>I played through the entire escape without a single break because I was so frantic. I seriously though the end of the game was going to be me getting pushed into the fire, and I actually panicked. I was like, "holy ######, that's a ballsy way to end a game." I think I would have actually liked it better though if you'd never found out who the voice was and just made it out into the sunshine with it still screaming behind you. The boss fight was a ton of fun though, and great voice acting.</span>
